I did too. If his sr. season is as good as his jr season he should get a 4th star. The dude is agile for his size, quick feet, god balance and powerful. I'd have to say 1st to go would be Gaye. With only 2 years to work with him he'd need to be ready to compete for playing time 1st year.

When you look at the class as a whole right now, I'd put 3-4 guys that could potentially get dumped if we could finish with guys we wanted still. Those would be Gaye, Martinez, Berry and Jackson. I'm certainly not saying all 4 will be/should be processed, but when we're at 22 guys right now and potentially could EASILY add 5-6 more guys, some folks will have to drop out, you hope it's not a guy we really like such as Jarrett, but if you add the likes of:
WR Moore
NT Guillory
RB Evans/Johnson
Rush OLB Ojulari/Web
C Van Pran
OT Dumervil/some other OT
DB Domio/Alford/someone
...you have to make room for those guys and I think Gaye, Martinez, Berry & Jackson are those you have to look to make that room. I dont think any of those 4 has shown to be high level players so far, and have a lot to prove this senior season (or in Gaye's case, 3rd year in JUCO).
I will say on the topic of Berry he is a young guy, only 16 going to be 17 this year as a senior, but I think that take early on was about helping get the foot hold in California more than anything. He simply doesn stand out on his team and doesnt make many plays, he's just a big dude playing high school football. If Guillory jumps on board, I just dont see why we'd take both unless Berry exploded his senior season.

I always come out and admit where I don’t know a thing about recruiting other than what I think is right.
Tell me where I am wrong. I ha e a misconception about how many ol you should field any given year.
That number, to me, is 16:
4 LT
3g
3c
3g
3RT
But we look like
T
Dare Rosenthal 6-7 320 so
Cameron Wire 6-6 295 jr
----Camron Jackson 6-5 285 fr
Jacori Savage 6-6 300 sr
G
Chasen Hines 6-2 325 jr
Thomas Perry 6-5 320 fr
----Marlon Martinez 6-4 300 fr
C
Lloyd Cushenberry 6-3 305 sr
G
Kardell Thomas 6-3 330 so
Donavaughn Campbell 6-4 335 sr
T
Saadhiq Charles 6-4 310 Sr
Anthony Bradford 6-6 345 so
Austin Deculus 6-6 320 sr
We look GREAT at a lot of places.
DLine has 5 men per
WR has 11 for 3 positions
DBs look set at 15 for 4 spots.
We look okay at running back and I can see where you don’t tell Zevans no.
What confuses me is OL.
It looks like we are woefully low at Guard and Center.
OT is okay numbers wise, but the starting talent is iffy.
Why would we offer WR, DB and LB when we are deep at those positions while OL depth is thin.
Combine that with the fact that there are no OL in La next year. This is the year to load up on OL if we can in state and oos.
There are three good backs available next year and a glut of wr/dB.
Seems like now is the time to offer OL. But now we are talking about Jackson and Martinez could be out. That is crippling to the OL.
Again, I don’t know much, but I am thinking that we take 3 more OL. Really seems like VP and Dumerville or its looking bad.

Not saying they should or will do this but Berry looks like he could be a really good center or guard

His recruitment has been strange.
Several weeks ago a few people were saying he looked terrible in camp, wasn’t SEC material and should stay home and play in the Pac10.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this as along as I have followed recruiting.
I’ll try to find the threads.
Unfortunately I don’t know how to copy and paste TD posts but list the Threads and pages.

Don’t forget Turner. O already noted that they were impressed with his weight when he arrived and that they plan to move him back to Center rather than play him at Tight End. It’s also been noted by a few people that Ray Parker may very well end up at OT. I think that will be very similar to Rosenthal’s situation last year - they give him a chance to play the position he wants and then he eventually moves to his better position long term.

I think Berry is an obvious choice when you consider Guillory is an instate guy who is viewed as an upgrade at the same true NT spot. Can't see a scenario where they both sign.
Beyond that I think so much of this hinges on getting this season's film in that it's hard to speculate. Long way to go and a lot will change.
I still maintain the coaches are looking at Gaye as an immediate impact guy. How he does this year with his first significant playing time will determine a lot.
Jackson is supposed to play OT again this year. He has the exact measurables that have been harped on as what to look for in a LT prospect. I could see it going either way, and they will be watching his development there closely.
Martinez is a wildcard. At first glance he looks like a project to get in with Dumervil, but we really probably need at least one guard even if you get Van Pran, and I haven't seen much talk of any others we're after. Ward maybe but he's not an obvious upgrade.
Another guy you have to consider is Eric Taylor if he blows up and Bama comes calling. He's said that he grew up a Bama fan and his highschool has sent a lot of kids there, with a current teammate committed.

Also you are missing Adrian Magee. He has played both T & G and I've seen it suggested on here that he could cross train at C also.

I swear I think this every year. OL get injured all the time, too. We're four deep at all these skill positions and hair thin on the OL.. with talent that gets clearly outclassed a few times a year. Even with elite RB's and quick pass plays, you still need great protection in the SEC.

Adrian Magee is a senior this year. He won’t be around next year.

We're missing one of our best, D. Lewis.. He is and will be a monster this year!

That Oline depth chart is for the football year 2020.
Magee and D Lewis will graduate.
That’s why we need 3 more this year.
