Tuesday Recruiting Roundup(Some Positive Tidbits on End of 1st Page)

The big news for the past weekend was Ishmael Wilson committing to Texas A&M.
Many still feel he will end up at LSU.
Eric Nahlin @EricNahlin
Ishmael Wilson committed to A&M? Will it last longer than Kim and Kris? Highly doubtful.
However, I don't see Wilson switching to the Tigers. There is something wierd going on here and its very surprising why LSU did not offer. Maybe they did not like something and decided not to offer. Perhaps they feel they could get better OT prospects.
Courtney Faye Roland @CourtneyRivals
Texas A&M commit Ishmael Wilson said he will not be going to Texas. He said done with junior days and confident in his commitment.
Another top OT recruit to watch is Hunter Bivin He is set to visit March 17 for a Junior Day (it is starting to look like a serious junior day with multiple recruits on campus)
Bivin has reportedly said his dream school is Notre Dame LINK He is set to visit them sometime in March
"Bivin would be a great addition to the Ohio State program. Notre Dame and LSU are two schools I look to challenge OSU, but I think the Bucks would certainly have to be considered one of the front runners at this point."
According to that OSU source this could be a LSU Notre Dame battle.
Old News but DeSean Smith named Bama his leader followed by FSU.
Contrary to most people on this board, I am very worried about losing this kid.
“I’m looking at who utilizes their tight end most and gets the ball to their big guys. I’m also looking for a school where I can win a national championship in four or five years, depending on if I redshirt. Those are the main things. I’m going to take my officials next year and see what comes up during the season and figure out what I’m going to do.”
Darian Claiborne visited A&M but did not commit like expected. He is most likley holding out for an LSU offer.
Why ME?? @TorrodneyPrevot
Also #Texas February 25, #Oklahoma , #TexasA&M , #Baylor ,#Utah ,we have to set something up. Then again #LSU March 17. BLOW UP
If this kid gets a Texas offer its over. Childhood team was always the Longhorns and that would be tough to overcome.

Wednesday will either be another great day for Texas or a huge surprise. Ricky Seals-Jones set to make his commitment Wednesday at 1pm.
Jordan Bishop @JB_UTSN
Ricky Seals-Jones announcing his commitment tomorrow to anywhere but Texas tomorrow would be a HUGE shock to me...
Justin Manning visited A&M
“I would put A&M’s junior day number two behind TCU,” he said.
Mike Coppage @MikeCoppage
Dallas Kimball S Brandon Hines says he and teammate Justin Manning will commit at the same time and to the same school.
Package Deal?
Texas may be willing to take a 2nd QB and JT Barrett might jump at that opportunity.
As of right now I am not too impressed with the QB prospects we are going after. Was hoping we could get a truly elite player.
"Quarterback JT Barrett told Hookem.com on Sunday night he still plans to be in Austin on Saturday. Texas is still considering taking a second quarterback, but we would place the percentages at less than 50-50 as of this weekend."
Devante Kincade does not currently have LSU as his leader. He says his two leaders are Illinois and Arizona State. "Those two schools are coming really hard at me," Kincade said. "Cal and LSU are also showing quite a bit of interest as well."
Bobby Burton @BobbyBurton247
#Longhorns interested in 2014 CB Tony Brown of Beaumont Ozen. #hookem
Remember this kid. He put on a show at the LSU camp last year.

why the hell are players wanting to go to texas after such terrible seasons and only looking worse. If LSU would have 2 6-6 seasons seems like everyone would want to jump ship off.

Posted on 2/21/12 at 5:22 pm to LaBornNRaised
Ya was thinking the same thing. LSU recruiting has cooled down and most of the news is coming slow and not good.
Posted on 2/21/12 at 5:22 pm to GeauxWolverines
Short version: Everybody on this list basically has somebody other than LSU really high on their list/hopes.

Is this ur opinion or someone elses. love the updates, but sometimes im confused with the format you choose to post these updates. Is this information u cut and paste, or do you gather info and just summarize in ur own words?

Yes, austin and the UT campus are cool. But seriously, if you want to win or play at the next level some of these kids make me SMH. Texas hasn't been known for winning OR preparing kids for the NFL lately.

Opinion of a Longhorn site. Sorry with the format. I try to get it as neat as possible. Work in progress.

If there are any early leaders at this point for you JT, who would they be? "Ohio St., LSU, and Texas Tech."

Some of those quotes sound pretty good for LSU but Im surprised that Baylor hasn't gotten in the conversation with him after what they did with RG3. I would be shocked if Texas landed both him and Swoopes

It's still really early, but we do need an elite QB in this class.
Posted on 2/21/12 at 6:54 pm to GeauxWolverines
Baylor has already taken Chris Johnson as their qb in the class. 6'5 200 athletic qb with a better arm than Barrett but raw as a passer.
Texas' appeal is the new coaches(this is their 2nd year),they're a power program with a very attractive history and campus and they are on the upswing. They're a solid QB away from being a MNC contender. They have a SEC type defense that will be scary good this coming season. Also have multitudes of young, talented weapons on offense. They just don't have a QB that has proven to be anything but below average to this point.
C,ertainly seems that some Texas people know more about Wilson and his lack of LSU offer than the LSU people do or are saying. It's puzzling to us but some Texas people seem to know what's going on.
Good to see Bivin is still planning to visit and I hope we blow him away. ND is going to be a major obstacle and with OSU's options at OT dwindling, I'd expect them to be a major factor.
I'm not concerned about Smith. He loves LSU and just wants to see us use the TE more in the passing game. If we don't attempt to use the TE more this season then I wouldn't blame Smith at all for going elsewhere. His future is based on his receiving ability so a blocking based scheme for the TE doesn't do him any favors. He'll never be considered a great blocker. If we don't look to use the TE in the passing game then I'm not too concerned about recruiting TEs. Just put an extra OL out there and let him block. Go 4 or 5 wide to make up in the passing game.
Claiborne likely would've commited to TAM without a personal and important call from LSU last week. I fully expect his offer to be handed out soon from LSU. Also think he is waiting for the LSU offer but don't think he'll wait past the 1st camp.
Some are saying Prevot is a lock to be offered by Texas this weekend and if so I agree with GW. Some say Texas may like Daeshon Hall more(think we should at least test the waters with him. 6'6 220 athlete and basketball player) but he's from Washington state and really likes Washington who has offered. Texas may hedge their bets and take Prevot. Either way I'm not counting too much on Prevot being in our class. He's exploding. Never thought he could commit at this point anyway with Williams and Beckwith still on the board.
Wiat until Manning visits LSU before making any judgements on him. I'm not buying the Hines stuff at this point. Manning can go anywhere he wants. Hines is going to have limited choices.
I certainly think Texas is going to try to get Barrett as well but don't think they will.Swoopes was the clear 1st choice and no way he wants to play 2nd fiddle to Harsin's prodigy. I like our chances but not completely sold yet. Also a little disappointed in our overall scale of QB recruiting but I will say that contrary to the slew of commits and offers out, it is still insanely early in the cycle.
Kincade would be ours right now if Les called and offered him. He is going on the fact that we want him to camp. Others may not require him to.
We made great progress with Brown last summer and I've heard we are his school of choice but Akina and Texas are a major threat. Akina has a great track record and is a much better recruiter than Cooper. Our best case scenario would be for Akina to move on as he did last winter only to come back after about a month. He wants to be a DC/HC and if the right opportunity comes along he would bolt. Regardless if we stay on Brown hard I'd expect us to be right in the thick of things with him.

Another thing that helps with Brown is new receivers coach Adam Henry is from there, so I would assume he would come into play with him too

Thanks for doing this GW. It's much appreciated.
Clutch with the linkage as well.
I'm not liking what I'm hearing, but, it's early, I guess.

Some good news
Laura McKeeman @LauraMcKeeman
The upcoming visit 5-star 2013 DL Robert Nkemdiche tells me he's most excited for? #LSU
If he wants the 4-3, we would be his best option.
