I keep reading (3) 5* this year from bama but I only see (2)5* from the state. Trent R. is from Florida so surely he doesn't count.

Whats the reason for the boom in talent this year in LA? It's so strong compared to the usual.

Because it was a supposed to be a strong year. And this year wasn't supposed to a strong year for the State of Alabama like last year...but now it is....care to deflect anymore?

And I've already said we should only have 2 5-stars this year (Janzen should be a 4).

It isn't a strong year. There are some elite prospects but the overall depth isn't very good.

Who said it was supposed to be a weak year for HS talent in AL this year? The "experts" on here? I don't recall anyone from ESPN, Rivals, or Scout saying that last year.

After doing a search Bama has 3 5 stars on Rivals and 8 4 stars. On scout is is 3 5 stars and 7 4 stars. They're almost exactly the same. I do think Kelly will lose his 5th star on scout but regardless, they're almost the same overall numbers.

It's been said in quite a few places that the graduating class last year was stronger than this year in Alabama by quite a bit. They never said the state would have no talent.

Exactly. Last year's talent was amazing and I know this year's don't come close to that but we still have talent in this state. Some people act like we're not suppose to have talent come out of AL.

I'm tired of the Rivals bias thing because they're numbers are not much different than Scout with most of our commits.

Who really gives a rats arse seeing they are pledged to Bama! I mean why not discuss Ole Miss and their recruits or Arkansas and their class coming in, they are as relavent to Tiger football as bamas. Some of you need to get over this love fest with Saban and discussing it every time he farts!!

Scout gives out more 5 and 4-stars. Like I said previously. If you take scout's overall rankings of State of Alabama players and put them into rivals 5-stars they give out to their overall rankings Alabama has 1 5-star in 2008 and 1 in 2009.

Um, apparently you never paid attention to what they were saying, and your own fanbase.

I heard some Bama fans state that we won't have AS much HS talent in 2009 as we did in 2008. I did not see anyone (except on here) say that we won't have elite prospects this year.

I don't think anyone can argue about DJ Fluker (the all-star coach also coached Andre Smith and he said that Fluker will be as good as Andre), Dre Kirkpatrick, Tana Patrick, Nico Johnson, or Kendall Kelly. All of those prospects will be great at the next level IMO.

You're just mad Thunderbird, because you said they wouldn't get the upgrade

But there's no Bama bias with Rivals, these guys are all deserving of their spots, shite...Nico should be higher.

Then look at Chris Bonds, he was a top 4* in the Rivals 100 in the 60 range, he injured his knee over the season and didn't play again I think until 1 playoff game (and wasn't fully healthy for that), and they moved him down to 108. Probably the only thing they have to evaluate him on is allstar week's practice and the game, still basically the first thing he's done since his knee surgery. Well the only reports from him of that week says he looked like he's recovered and performed pretty well all week. Rivals took the opportunity to drop him from that 108 spot to a 3 star and basically 200+ spots. If they would've just dropped him out of the 250, that would've been a monumental drop itself...but to take his 4th star is ridiculously drastic, especially for an injured player.

Your point is if Scout used Rival's scoring system, then we'd be lower ranked on scout. If Scout used Rival's system... then they wouldn't be scout. They score prospects differently. Regardless everyone is on the same playing field on both sites.

Alabama is 5th on Rivals.
Alabama is 8th on ESPN.
Alabama is 9th on Scout.

If we're number 9 at worst case... then that's cool.
