I follow Rivals, not scout. I have noticed a strange amount of (large) bumps this year, and last for State of Alabama players and Alabama players in general.
ESPN's overall rankings:
Kirkpatrick #4
Fluker #12
Johnson #20
Scout's overall rankings:
Kirkpatrick #38 5*
Fluker (don't know overall rank) 4*
Johnson #48 5*

The only one of those that is not a 5* on Scout is Fluker, who is a 4* on Scout.

It was quite clear Fluker is just raw in his ability at OT in pass blocking. To be expected from a 1st year player at that spot though, especially going against the nation's best.
It's basically up to the coaches. They're definately working with a guy that has 5* physical tools.

I'm not talking about JUST those guys. I'm talking about guys in general...and guys who get bumped down for not going to Bama...
But once again, I still see the fact you're ignoring this supposedly huge surge of elite Alabama talent these past 2 years. 3 5-stars from 2002-2007 (6 years) and now you have 6 in the past 2 years?

Last year for Bama was like this year in LA. That isn't the norm.

AJ took a tumble this time and you were complaining about his ranking before. Chris Bonds is down to a 3 star. Nobody looks at the guys that do fall. It's just a witch hunt.

Maybe, but the ranking are pretty damn close all across the 3 major sites besides Fluker on Scout. If you think AL state prospects are overrated, ok, but it's not just on Rivals.

I always find it funny when people think Rivals is biased to Bama.
I remember the day after Claiborne committed to LSU, he was bumped from a * to a *** on Scout. I didn't hear anybody claiming conspiracy about that...?

Last year
ESPN:
Jones #2
Scott #19
Love #33
Scout:
Jones #3 5*
Scott #74 4*
Love #32 5*
Once again, the rankings are reasonably close across the board.

I know that, and I expected this year to not be so great for Alabama talent, as most were saying...yet, it's turning out to be HUGE once again

Not saying you don't have guys that don't go down. But if you're going to argue you have an equal amount go down or more go down, then, well...
This also doesn't address very strange things happening like the second a guy picks someone else over Bama they plummet (See Tyler Edwards, who I believe was at least a 5.9 4-star at some point last year).

Going by Scout's overall rankings and Rivals 5-stars they've given out in 2009 and 2008 to the overall rankings the State of Alabama would of had 1 5-star last year and 1 5-star this year. Quite a bit different in terms of stars (2 vs. 6) over the last 2 years.

How can you compare the 2 like that? Scout has more 5* players than Rivals, that's just the way it is. You're grasping at straws as usual. Rivals may be biased, but to nowhere near the degree that you're implying.

Becuase I'm making all things equal. Using overall rankings. The state of Alabama would of only had 1 5-star player each of the past 2 years if scouts overall rankings went with rivals 5-stars. Scout simply gives out a lot more 5-stars.

Seems weird none of you can come up with a logical argument for the sudden boom in elite talent in the State of Alabama. I mean come on, 6 5-stars in the past 2 years after you've had 2 the previous 6 years? You don't think that's the least bit odd? Even after everyone was saying this won't be a good year for state of Alabama talent?

what do you want to hear? The state changed its tax laws in 1990, so we had a large influx of people from LA, GA, MS, and FLA and their offspring are far more superior to any offspring coming from two people born and raised in AL?

the fact that so many of the freshmen class last year came in and contributed so quickly should let you know those guys weren't overrated.

A reasonable explanation for an unreasonable event.

I'm more so talking about THIS YEARS crop...after it was supposed to be a weak year for the state of Alabama this year...much weaker than last year's....and it's practically the same now.
Everyone knew last year's crop was great, but this year's is bit questionable to say the least.

Didn't see it
Please explain why the state, especially this year with emphasis, has supposedly so many elite level prospects after having barely any the previous years from 2002-2007? I already have given you last year was supposed to be great, but this year wasn't...and suddenly now it is?

Whats the reason for the boom in talent this year in LA? It's so strong compared to the usual.
