re: Transfer Portal Board Discussions (Dec - Jan Window)

I am loving our 25 high school signees and our 7 transfers, so 32 new players coming in!
We have 20 players combined who are in the portal and/or declared for the draft, so that is a net gain of 12 players. But it shows just how much movement that is going on with the roster management and how tough it is to manage to keep that 85-player roster replenished.
My next hope is we can find an experienced run stopping LB. Seems we have a lot of edge players but I have not seen much news on interior LB prospects.

quote:. That is an issue but while there are always gonna be a ton of folks worrying about how to deal with the roster turnover, there is Staff doing daily in-depth player/roster evaluation and construction as a routine part of their (14 hour) work day.

CBK's baws working on the cutting edge, My Man.
Finding/landing Zy and JJ took awareness. Nobody at the 3 Services had these dudes as anything near productive Transfer candidates. Only top Programs with similar proactive Scouting/Evaluation departments were in on these two.

Where I see the Tigers at Christmas.
While any of the guys in the Portal could be useful pieces, I think the Staff would have already offered any of these kids they like and we'd be aware of them.
As the Bowl games are played, maybe there will be additional entries that the Staff is interested in. The Window doesn't close till Jan 18th so there's definitely time for surprises. Hopefully, we discover that there have been behind the scenes dealings that produce a couple significant contributors.
Hey, it's Christmas - we can at least ask!
As I've pointed out before, the Program is on the cusp of being able to consider/take elite players at any position. While we still may take a chance on a player coming off injury like Sevyn Banks this year, it doesn't have to be the case simply because we need his talent if he can recover completely and be the same elite player he was.
The roster is nearly built to the overall level of not having to rely on any one player to be the difference between an at least SEC Average position room or not.
For my money, it was highly unrealistic for anyone to have expected more from Brian Kelly's first year at the helm.
MERRY CHRISTMAS you bunch of fricking knuckleheads!

Another USC LB enters Portal
Tuasivi Nomura LB RS-JR 6-1 225 Plays in every game but I haven't looked deep enough to tell if they were starts. It's USC so that ain't gonna happen. Stomach is already turning from typing those 3 letters more than once.
Trojan Man has brought in 2 highly rated portal LB's besides whoever is in their recruiting class so this looks to me like he's running away from the Program/competition instead of running to one.

so we now hope an alum or dad of alum cashes their bitcoin bets of billions before New year and buys LSU a premier DT and a couple CBs.

Tre'Vez Johnson DB SO 5-11 192 Florida
Solid, experienced SEC Starter. He's the type. Was more productive than Brooks & Foucha at Arky.
"The 5-foot-11-inch, 194-pound DB from Jacksonville (Florida) ... Johnson made 16 starts at the STAR position stretching over the last two seasons, appearing in 22 games to make it 34 total for his career ... Johnson still has two years of collegiate eligibility remaining"

Fiske the top DT going to FSU. Shite.
Didn't expect us to be in play but kept him on the list since we offered him early.
Anybody else starting to develop a pretty intense dislike for any dude on a horse with a spear?

Would you interpret the STAR position as the Nickel?

Figured I better look it up to be sure and first thing I saw was: "essentially an overpowered nickel defensive back".
If we have to give it a name on paper then Nickel it is. This dude forces and makes tackles and he covers same as CMH asks our Nickel guys. Maybe a little more run stopping element over there.

Really? Won't he have to sit out a year?

Posted on 12/26/22 at 9:31 pm to Tchefuncte Tiger

From what I've read and posts on here, the NCAA is pretty much rubber stamping any requests for exceptions.
Maybe the exception he wants has something to do with changing to a major that isn't offered at Georgia.
Apparently, that's how JT Daniels is swinging it this time as a second time Grad Student Transfer.
Anybody who can confirm or deny these - or any other - exceptions, please do so!
Posted on 12/26/22 at 9:32 pm to Damathe
Someone link a waiver that has been denied. I haven’t seen one.
Posted on 12/26/22 at 10:25 pm to Damathe
I’m curious as to where Arik will land? Colorado?

At the least I'd just like to see a list of admissible exceptions.
Then a list of who has used those exceptions.
