He’d be nice to have, but receiver is a luxury, not a need. With the crop of kids we get annually from Louisiana plus any experienced depth we’ll attract in the portal each offseason, we’re more than fine at that position. We’ll likely get 1-2 more through high school or the portal to pair with Underwood. Playing time will be available next season which will be attractive to many.
He's definitely a luxury, but I sure wanted that luxury .

They make predictions based on what they’re hearing at the time. Was LSU ever REALLY in contention or is this just another Jonah Williams/Lockett situation?
i don't know about Williams, but LSU was definitely in it with Lockett early on. Ffrench literally has family in south Louisiana and his mother went to Southern U. There are actually connections there like Harold Perkins had.

I won't believe we don't get him until he commits to Texas. This is one i am just more confident on, and i have no inside info.

Week leading up to Pickett decision alot of picks rolled in for Oregon. I think that is what some people are talking about.

If French doesn't pick LSU on his commitment date. I wouldn't be surprised if staff pushed for him and Wiley to signing day. Expect them to try to get a few guys in for a home game and flips will happens like last year late.

Expect big names to be on campus at Ole Miss and Alabama games.

Sucks, but not like he's a massive priority. We can't get enough reps for the talent we have now though

I mean, for *this upcoming season*, yes. But exiting this season, you've got lacy, daniels, and hilton all likely to move on. That leaves you with zavion thomas entering year 4, aaron anderson entering year 4, kyle parker and shelton sampson both entering year 3, and some youngsters.

Given that thomas is unlikely to see many reps this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he left after the season - to try and spend year 4 somewhere he knows he can start. The same or similar logic applies to aaron anderson. And as for the guys entering year 3, if they're not confident they're gonna start, they're likely to explore other options as well. Among the 3 slot guys (anderson/thomas/parker), you almost certainly lose one and there's a decent chance you lose 2. Finding enough snaps to convince those guys to stay is made even more difficult by the fact that you've got some awesome TEs coming up who you're gonna want to find snaps for. If shelton sampson doesn't look like a good bet to win one of the outside spots, he's a potential departure as well. And unfortunately those guys aren't really gonna get much chance to prove it on the field this year - so you're basically gonna have to either promise a job to a guy you've never seen in real game action, or you're gonna have to sell guys entering year 3 that the *possibility* of starting is enough reason to stick around. That's fine if you've got a star or two at the top to shoulder the load, but we won't have that.

And even if we do keep a good portion of that group, we'll still be rolling into 2025 with an incredibly inexperienced WR room. You'll probably have 2 of parker/anderson/thomas in the slot, and you'll need to find 2 starting outside WRs from the group of Billiot/Sampson/Jelani Watkins. Behind those guys, you've got the 2025 class.

In other words, the 2025 class needs to have both talent and depth at WR, or we're gonna start looking pretty damn thin there. I don't think we'll ever see that spot become an out-and-out weakness, given the way LA churns out WRs, but there's a possibility we're gonna roll into a season or two without any no-doubters at the position - which is not ideal and is not what we've gotten used to

I understand. Just the expectation that some fans have are asinine. Believe me, I’d like to know who is locked in at LSU years, or even months, in advanced and have zero doubt that they may change their decision.

Not sure that’ll ever happen unless they start locking in high school kids on a contract well before they begin their college years

I don’t want him. It pisses me off every time I see those two Ff’s.

Depending on the talent in the qb room.you can pull elite talent from the transfer portal and still be completely fine.
All these H.S. receivers commiting to Tejas because ARCH manning will be throwing them the ball.
With the success his family has had and his ability to play the qb position it makes it a no brainer for a lot of wr's.
Who doesn't wanna be part of the next great manning passing duo.
we have huge QB talent and with Underwood coming and Joe Sloan here we should have no worries about incoming talent. In the future.
