We should've "Kiffin'd" Randle and had D-Lo postpone his announcement.

Don't think it quite went down this way after the responses we got from Dmitch, but who knows. I think it was a case of Benton deciding that he was going to AU on his visit there. Phillip L. (auburn's tight end they signed who visited AU in the same weekend that Benton did) went on JOX, a Birmingham radio station on NSD and said that the coaches told him that Benton had committed to them on the visit- 3 weeks before NSD but they didn't want it to get out because Benton was worried that his coach (Bradshaw)and the school would not like it that he was going to go to AU and it could cause him trouble trying to get all of his paperwork sent it to become eligible. Now...speculation on my part--at some point Randle's father found out that Benton was not going to go to LSU. According to Dmitch, he went on the radio station to soften the blow for Benton by making it a depth chart issue (which it was for Benton moreso than Randle), which gave Benton an out to Auburn without the backlash. Dmitch said only one person was angry after the whole situation. In my opinion, that would be Bradshaw who felt decieved by Benton for lying to him and Miles and deciding to sign with Auburn after all the work that was done to get him eligible to go to LSU, not AU. Now as far as how much Miles knew, or when Miles knew what and why he revoked the scholarship offer....not really sure how to explain that one. But in the end everyone (Except Bama ) got what they wanted out of the deal.
The 2 things that dmitch said or implied:
1) Benton did not want and was not going to go to LSU. He had decided he was going to AU before NSD
2) His father's decision to go on the radio station was done to help Benton out, not for his son.
There....you may or may not agree but it will give you something to stew over.
Nope doesn't makes sense because if Randle would attend LSU if Benton choose LSU also, then it would make sense that Miles would be furious that Benton left him after 2 years of waiting and working with him.
Bradshaw is mad because he worked to help Benton, and with him leaving LSU after 2 years for the one and done plan makes complete sense..
Bradshaw knows it's a pipe dream to accomplish this goal, and no education and no NFL leaves Benton washing cars in Bastrop for life..
I wish Dmitch would just come on here and clean it up..
We are all shooting darts in the dark

I realize you are apparently just posting someone's lame theory but I'm dumber for having read that.

Well Monk what do you think happened?
The theory makes the most sense to me, and I don't see how you can say it's lame..
It answers all the situations and posts, quotes and interviews IMO

Takes a man to do what Randle Sr. did.

Frankly, I don't see any good that can come from re-hashing it but I think it went down exactly as it look.
RR innocently bragged a little to RR and some others that LSU had him slotted him at #2 behind LaFell. This was blatant exaggeration but RR mentioned it to his Dad and his Dad believed it could be true and it was completely contrary to what LSU told him so RR's Dad lost a good bit of trust in the LSU coaches, even though they did nothing.
Fearing the BS to be true, RR's Dad let it be known that Benton had to go. To mend this broken trust, Les pulled Benton's schollie and Benton for forced to go to AU.
Bradshaw is miffed but knows LSU had little choice. In the end, this was something that got blown completely out of proporton just because of a little exaggerating by Benton.
LSU wanted Benton. That's why we brought the dude in for an official after he visited AU. Everyone heard Benton say on Tuesday might that he was signing with LSU. But, it didn't work out.

Without any evidence your theory is just as "lame" as mine is!

FWIW, it looks like Scout reads the Recruiting Board, because it strangely looks like a post that I made here, the day after NSD.
As I saw it, there are several key points:
RR and DB are former teammates and friends.
RR wants DB to have a chance to make $.
RR knows that DB is a 1 n done due to grades.
If they play together, DB does not get the reps necessary to achieve his goal.
DB starts to believe that RR MAY pick LSU, so he needs a backup plan and visits AUB.
Randles know this and think that by RR selecting LSU, that all is good, wanting DB to get his chances at AUB.
DB, uncertain that RR is going to OU, reaffirms his "solid" to LSU as his first choice.
Randles, knowing that RR has now chosen LSU, want to "steer" DB to AUB. If DB signs w/LSU, then RR will go to OU. Remember, RR was UNDECIDED until NSD, and had to consider playing 1 or possibly 2 years with Bradford, who had lost several WRs.
So Mr Randle gives the interview to put it out in public for two reasons. One, to let Miles and the fans know that if DB signs, then RR leaves for OU.
This forces Miles to confront DB AGAIN, but with the either /or knowledge, confirms the "one n done", and pulls the offer. Miles cannot afford to let DB send in the LOI, and lose RR. Thus, the pulled offer.
RR can now go with his final choice LSU w/o hampering his friends future.
Basically the Randles were able to help DB, allow RR to go to LSU, and help Miles through a tough situation. It's all good in the end.
Except for the perception that Miles caved to pressure and did a classless thing, Mr Randle as a dictating parent, and RR afraid of competition.
The key in my mind to this is DB awareness that RR was strongly considering OU, maybe even a lean near the end. The Randles basically felt that they needed to keep DB from making a big mistake and still sign w/LSU, forcing RR to OU.
No inside info on my part, just deductive reasoning. I could be full of it, but I would not be alone. Maybe I want to see the noble nature of the Randles and Miles. After all, Miles is my coach and RR is a Tiger.

Sorry...unitl something concrete comes out...Monks bit seems the most likely.
Everything else is way convoluted.

It's still a free country, believe what you want. It's ALL speculation until more confirmations come out. It may never be revealed, which allows for speculation. I choose to believe in Miles and the Randles.

Benton Bad grades, bad character, one and done.
Does not help LSU and could hurt LSU with attitude problem. RR Good grades, good character, three and done.
