I do care about a fence and it’s what Dinardo, then Saban, then miles and now o definitely want. And in order to get it, you have to let local prospects know that if LSU is their home Team and they get an offer, to take it.
That’s all fine and dandy, but it rarely works out that way.

I agree with most of what you said.
Ed/ LSU needs to tell the LA kids that we won't wait till the last day to fill that DL spot (looking at you Sopsher). Join or gtf
Like Bama/UGA/A&M just as much as you like us? Then don't cry when we get an out-of-state 4/5* to replace you

While I love what Ed is doing, we need to stop this narrative about kids "playing us" because they don't commit eight months ahead of signing day.
Sure, some like the POS Amite kid do. But for many players, this is their one shot to set themselves up for life. Believe it or not, it's less about the attention and more about making sure you are going into the best situation you can.
Part of that is making sure you commit to a school that is invested in you and needs you. The last thing you want to be is #24 or 25 in the class. Or join a class where they have taken a bunch of prospects in the prior year and your year.
And it is easy to sit back and say someone is scared of competition, etc. But the reality is, that's being smart. Don't think for one second that part of the reason John Emery suits up for us lies in the crowded RB room in Georgia.
Anyway, I come to this originally as a fan of LSU. Now my son is starting to get noticed a bit (he still has several years) and I'm closer to parents of recruits who are in the chute right now. This is not as easy a decision as many of you think it is. Anyway, just wanted to put that perspective out there.

Couldn't agree more. No ill will towards a kid who wants tog et away from home for whatever reason.
But we need to protect ourselves from these last minute flips/ decisions. like someone said before they are hurting us.

Get in there, do the work and that RM depth chart will take care of itself

Agreed. How to you keep Bama out? Become Bama
You don't need to become Bama to keep Bama out! All we have to do is beat Bama and watch what happens, those boys in the boot will want to stay in the boot! Watch and see.

This.
I also think protecting ourselves with out of state commits, makes us more attractive to the Instate ones.

It sounds counterintuitive, but This is might be the way to build a wall around Louisiana. It may not be evident this year, but maybe next year.
You can’t stop AL, UF and aTm from recruiting prospects, so you have to supplement that.
He’s not taking just anyone from CA, MD, VA, he is taking 4s & 5s they will make a hs coach tell a La recruit to take that Boys from the Boot offer.
Ed is telling recruits that The fence has a door, and it should only open inward.

I think The state of Tennessee has been kind to us and it will only get better as a recruiting state.
Nashville is growing, Memphis has some great talent. I do t know anything about East Tennessee, but maybe Chattanooga has some talent.

Stop letting Louisiana kids wait till the last day just to screw us over
I have been saying this for years. All it takes is a year or two of doing this, and the playing games days will be over with
