With th eplayers now in the drivers' seat, not sure they would agree to unionize.

It won’t correct itself bc teams/fans will do anything to win and already have. Just out spend everyone like baseball and win. Ego.

I think this would work. The Union and/or NCAA could establish a rule that players are not eligible to participate in NCAA sanctioned events if they receive compensation from sources other than the university, then set a limit that the university can pay its players, and assure that all players are paid a minimum out of the fund like the pro leagues do. The limits should be set high so some players may still earn x times the minimum. If the minimum is $20k, I would use $200k as the maximum, and this has to be tagged to inflation. I would also pay for liability insurance for players that receive the max since they are the most likely to risk professional careers. Players that want to earn more money off of their NIL should become professionals.

There’s only one way to fix the garbage we see now… Big 10 and SEC need to form an alliance like an AFC vs NFC… if your school isn’t part of these two leagues, then you are just a minor league feeder system just like the HS ranks.
This BIG 10/SEC alliance must also have a draft just like the NFL (no more recruiting), and NIL boosters can focus on the players that were drafted (this will probably regulate a lot of wild
West stuff we see today).

This is America jack. Trying to cap the market to make your team compete is communism lol
The NFL has an antitrust exemption & thus a salary cap.

Since NOBODY EVER ILLEGALLY PAID players before NIL, I guess we can reasonably expect that no school will circumvent this "cap" by additionally paying the players under the table, right????
Look, we had the perfect system for decades where boosters took care of the star players and their families under the table, against the weak assed NCAAs "rules".
The non star players got their tuition, room and board 100% paid through their scholarship, which is worth anywhere between 50-100k YEARLY, depending on the school. Oh, and I bet there are certain restaurants on campus where the jocks eat free. Those poor mistreated athletes.
Now we have complete chaos, and as usual, it's been forced upon us by a small percentage of liberal PINHEADS that never get laid and hate their lives. Same with the BS "safety" rules (they really want to eliminate football).
It's well past time that not just in sports, but across the board in this country,we tell these PUSSIES to fLuck off and everything is fine as is.
The problem is that normal, hard working people who actually contribute to society, are too busy working and taking care of their families, and don't want to engage with these nut jobs. So we're stuck.

Was coming to say this.
A cap will force monies under the table. No matter the penalty. Ex: SMU pony express.
