People love to point out all the 5 stars that are busts and the 2/3 stars that succeed as if the 2/3 stars succeed at a higher rate.

we aren't taking 21 3 stars. We are taking a ton of 4 stars. We jsut don't have a 5 star player. BUt i think we will survive.

LSU only had 2 guys this year starting that had a 5* rating according to ESPN. RS and RR2.
Here are some notables from this year's team:
4*
Hilliard
Reid
Ware
Copeland
Montgomery
Ford
Claiborne
Brockers
T-Bob
Blackwell
3*
Mathieu
Blue
Beckham Jr.
Mingo
Logan
Faulk
Williford
Dworaczyk( I added him b/c he was widely considered our best OL before he got hurt)
2*
Wing
Lavar Edwards
Alex Hurst
Deangelo Peterson
What this list tells me is that you don't need 5* to be an elite team. You need to fill your spots consistently every year with 4* or better. 5* players are great if you are absolutely deplteted in one position and need the guy to play right away. LSU doesn't need that. We need guys that have talent but still need some development that come on the scene after RS an are productive. In some cases, they get in as true freshmen and can make an impact, but we don't need a team full of freshmen every year. If you are consistently bringing in a bunch of 4* then you are in position to be an elite team as long as you continue to develop the players you get and LSU is pretty good at getting the most out of our players. We are in good shape with this class. It's a meat and potatoes class not a lobster class, but in all honesty my favorite players on the team are the meat and potato type players anyway.
