Both may redshirt
I was just thinking of this. What do we do when both are RS Soph./Juniors (depending on when Mett leaves)? No way we do that crappy two QB system with Rivers and Bridgewater, considering Bridgewater can actually throw the ball. I can see them doing the two QB system with Bridgewater and Mett, but not Rivers. Would Rivers basically ride the bench? I am not knocking the kid, but I believe if we get a new OC, Bridgewater would be the obvious starter when Mett is gone. Where does this leave Rivers? Considering most QBs like Teddy don't go to the pros their junior year, this makes things interesting for Mr. Rivers.

Tigers you do have a really good point. While I think both should redshirt that may not be the case. I could see us only redshirting Rivers so we have something like this.
2011: Jefferson/Lee
2012: Mettenberger
2013: Mettenberger/Bridgewater (Only saying this because Mett could be gone)
2014: Bridgewater
2015: Rivers

2014: Bridgewater
2015: Rivers

Christmas comes early.
I can see Rogers getting Grey Shirted and count toward 2012.

Bridgewater redshirts and Rivers greyshirts or signs elsewhere IMO. Unless we just miss with a bunch of our targets and there is a spot for Rivers.

That would make sense. Could you see the coaching staff turning down Bridgewater if he asked for a RS? If anything, I'd personally redshirt Teddy and let Rivers be a true freshmen where it looks like this.
2011: JJ/JL -> Mett -> Rivers -> Bailey
2012: Mett/Bridgewater duo -> Rivers
2013: Same as 2012
2014: Bridgewater -> Rivers
I just cannot think of a way to get Rivers the starting job if that is what he hopes to come here and get. Obviously this is assuming Teddy works out as we all believe he will, but it just doesn't make sense for Rivers to do this.

I can.
Compete and win it.
JJ and JL have proven that high recruiting ranks and QBing without any competition is a horrible way to insure great QB performance.

Rivers is not GS'ing he is better than that

I love this news. Aba, have you been talking to Teddy? What's he been saying.
I also think we could take Eli and OBJ because OBJ said he'd be totally willing to be CB. Now, that doesn't mean we WANT to.
But it's always nice to have a guy like Bridgewater. He has athleticism and, as someone pointed out with him wanting to redshirt, he has leadership qualities. If he gives us, even a shot at Perryman, hell yeah.

If Bridgewater commits, I don't see Rivers signing with us. I realize he's said the words of a competitor and said he wasn't scared/hurt by Mettenberger's commitment, but I just don't see him signing on in this case. JMO though.

i dont see how mett has anything to do with rivers.
i wouldnt even count mett as a qb commitment this year if i was another recruit.
so really its just rivers plus bridgewater (hopefully) and teams take 2 all the time.

Then he said that he would love to take a visit but it would be after christmas. I guess that he doesn't know that I follow recruiting and that I know is visiting this week

He really does. He pulled his pledge, in part, because of the way Miami threw Harris into the fire and he said specifically that he was hoping to redshirt.

No one said that Eli is better than OBJ. OBJ is more versatile and can play either way while Eli is probably only projected at WR. If LSU gets both, OBJ will most likely play DB to balance things out.

Normally I'd agree with you 100%, but from the people I've talked with, Rivers is extremely mature and knows he needs many years to develop. If we signed Teddy I'd put it at 50-50 on Rivers being willing to greyshirt with us. If he did, it would be one of the greatest QB hauls of all-time.

I have read that OBJ is willing to play DB 3 times in this thread alone. When did this change. I remember him saying that he wanted to WR. That was supposed to be the reeason why we had to play catch up with Da U. I know he was favoring them for a while. I then heard that we offered him at WR adn thats how we got back in the game.
What has changed and can anyone drop a link of him saying he is willing to play DB?
