I'm still not sure who I would have rather had out of Swoopes or Barrett. Either way, now, as long as we land Barrett I will be pumped.

Nothing funny about you making fun of one of our players.

Vince Young basically beat USC that year when USC was probably the best team out there.

So your argument has no merit and you suck...

Agree. His Jr year VY was what every school is looking for when they take a dual threat. He's the prototype college qb imo. He had it all for the college level. That doesn't mean he's a prtotype NFL guy. Their are different standards between those two levels. If LSU ever gets a dual threat that is 2/3 of what VY was most of our fanbase will never complain about those types again. Terelle Pryor is that. 2/3 of what VY was. I'd take that. VY his jr year was top 5 for me all time best players in college. He was a beast. I'd take him over Newton for college though both were very special. Newton couldn't have done what VY did to USC. Best 1 man performance on that stage I've ever seen and Texas still shouldn't have won. USC was that good. Jmo.

Also Swoopes has a much bigger arm than Shepard. Not even comparable. Has a better arm than VY as well. He's just not accurate or a good passer. He's all potential. That's why I like Barrett better among others. I understand why Swoopes is ranked so high because his ceiling is there but I question if he ever even approaches his ceiling.

How did I make fun of anyone? By telling the truth? It's not exactly a secret Shepard had big time problems throwing the football, hence why he was moved from QB to WR. The dude hasn't even attempted a single pass @ LSU (even on a trick play). The warning signs were there from high school, i.e. the horrid accuracy when throwing the football. But like I said, much like Swoopes, they are both electric with the ball in their hands.

And I suggest you read on what I said about VY, he was never an elite passer, ...but was still a good one at the college level, even though his passing game was HUGELY opened up by his running ability. As we've seen in the NFL, he struggles BIG TIME when throwing the football.

Michael Vick is still the top dual-threat guy all time (taking into account every level of football).

What are our legitimate chances with Barrett?
I know they seem good, but once he starts getting more offers they could diminish quickly.

With the commitment of Swoopes, Texas is out. With Stewart already committed and Davis last year, I think A&M is out. He doesn't make sense for Arkansas. Don't know what OU's interest is, but he doesn't seem like the tall pocket passers they have had lately, other than Bell, and I think they are heavily involved with the Browne kid from Washington, #1 pro-style QB. IMO LSU's main competition right now is Baylor and Ohio State, and maybe OU if they offer. But Baylor's got a 4* kid committed already, and OSU has offered a local 4* QB, too. I don't see anybody else getting into that top group. Oregon or Nebraska maybe?

Dude is a hoss to bring down and has a decent arm, but will probably throw more INT's than he will TD's in his career.

Swoopes doesn't even come close to Shepard and Young as a runner. Swoopes is big and physical but he isn't even close speed wise. I know he looks great on film but he has played against few if any division I players.
