ely is undersized and has a weak arm. Ya future stud no doubt

His arm looked fine during the 7 on 7 shown on ESPNU. Will be a very good QB in the right system.

From what I heard Rivers refused to workout at the State camp

So he went to State's camp to eat and watch some videos?

Rivers is actually the one with the mediocre arm, IMO.

Phillip Rivers doesn't exactly have a great NFL arm either, so I guess its not really that surprising.

Could have something to do with the offense Mullen runs

Rivers arm is average, but its not weak. Its sufficient in the college game making the right passes. I don't know where anyone gets off calling Ely's arm weak, he can make any poss you need him to make. His weakness is field vision and timing.

well if it's true i don't see why he came at all. doesn't really make any sense. the only people who didn't workout were guys who had been to the june camp.

I think he already had a offer from MSU, so it wasn't really necessary for him.

Rivers looked terrible in his game this weekend

Was there a cock-sucking convention in Athens this weekend that you took time out of to go watch the dude play? Or perhaps a band-fig conference where you all formed a circle and stroked each other's flutes? Where is this intel coming from exactly?

Did Mullen not offer Prescott at the same time that Rivers came to the State elite camp?

Idk , all I know is xbengal has a tendency to open his mouth about matters he has no knowledge of.

I don't think Rivers is a bad QB, he just seems to be a project, and maybe he looked the part more so than Mullen had thought when he arrived at the camp. Prescott is probably a little more physically ready and can serve in a small rushing role as a freshmen or RS freshmen when Russell or Farve is starting.

I'm sure shoe as seen as much film on rivers as mike d, but this is a taste of mike's opinion on him

You can clearly see that Stephen is very comfortable throwing the ball in the pocket and he has good pocket presence and poise. He sees the field very well due to his great height and Rivers does a good job finding the correct receiver to throw to downfield. While he still needs additional work on getting quicker reads and progressions he does a good job in those categories. Rivers does a very good job of sitting in the pocket strong and allowing his receivers extra time to get separation downfield.

For someone so tall it is surprising how mobile he is when pressured. While Stephen would not be considered a runner-type quarterback he does have the unique ability to feel pressure and elude a heavy pass rush. His built-in quarterback clock is very apparent on tape and he has a good feel for sidestepping a pass rusher and buying himself extra time outside the pocket. You can see on tape at times his offensive line has some major breakdowns, but he does a good job sidestepping a pass rusher and getting the throw off.

quote:

His passing mechanics are very much like his brother Philip. He has a bit of a ¾ delivery, but the ball comes out quickly and he has a quick release. While he needs to work with the weights to physically become stronger he does have a good, strong arm and he is capable of making all the necessary throws downfield. While the delivery is a bit quirky the ball comes out of there fast and Stephen has a good change of pace when throwing the ball short or putting some extra RPM’s on the deeper throws.

never judge a hs qb based off his stats..ive learned that...judge more off of camp settings and what not because being on a bad team can make a decent qb look awful..just saying

I don't doubt that he has had good coaching from Phillip and his dad.
