Emma Strood who plays for Diamond Sports hotshots, the best travel ball team in the entire country for the 2022 class.

She is a 2022 prospect but is currently ranked within the top 15 prospects in the country and has already received national all american honors and other awards

She is a 6 foot pitcher who is a Right hand thrower, throws low to mid 60's as of now. She is one of the top pitchers in the entire class, she has dominated vs kids older than her too.

In addition to bein a elite pitcher she is also an everyday hitter and was among the top power hitters in the country, finishing with 22 homeruns this summer. She is teammates with Maci Bergeron who is also commited to us.

Emma is considered one of the few elite hybrid players in the class as she is able to pitch and dominate top prospects while also bein one of the top power hitters in the class.

She is currently a top 20 prospect who was recruited by OU, A&M, FSU, Alabama and Florida, with a lot of interest from PAC 12 schools as well.

LSU now has two top elite prospects committed for the 2022 class both are elite power hitters too.

The classes from 2019 on forward are actually starting to almost reach OU level of recruiting, an entire class of elite prospects

Extremely excited about the future

I also notice a difference in our recruiting trends. We are also recruiting more POWER hitters, less slappers.

When I spoke with Beth this summer, she mentioned she thinks we need more power, we need more players who can change the game with one swing. The type of prospects we are now offering definitely fit that

You watch the CWS and you look at what OU does. You need more players like that. The staff has done a tremendous job on the trail within the last few years, it seems to continue to improve every year too

2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022 all have elite/very good pitchers

A lot of our 2019 2020 and 2021 prospects who play in the OF are power hitters who swing away!

These numbers would indicate Beth and the Tigers were over achievers to reach the levels they did. Of course they had three phenomenal players and incredible pitching staffs. They just could not overcome a few holes in their bats when the big chips were on the table. Tremendous accomplishments none the less.

Interesting they are battling Oklahoma for superiority in both softball and gymnastics. The new training facility is starting to reap the benefits in gymnastic recruiting. If the programs can just win those elusive national titles it is possible for both to create a dynasty.

To an extent, absolutely. Quite a few schools have had much better overall classes than us over the years but still fell short. LSU's pitching stable combined with a few elite position players really led to all of this success. You think about Tennessee, Alabama, FSU, Arizona.

Florida and OU had continuously recruited a class "FULL" of elite talent.

LSU always recruited well, we usually have one or two very good players per class, the rest would be talented but not next level talent, but capable players.

Once we start playing with back to back years with this type of recent recruiting, there is a much more potential and in store for this team.

LSU was deficiency was always lack offensive firepower. I think the next few classes are far and away much better hitters compared to the classes we had before, just more hitters overall per class.

To whoever said LSU is starting to have difficulties with recruiting is a complete moron, its becoming easier now for this staff. They really have developed good relationships with a lot of the travel ball coaches lately. A lot better connections in Texas and California, as well as Georgia.

That's really incredible. Too bad we have to wait a few years to hopefully take another step towards a title.

Not necessarily, although OU seems pretty unstoppable as of now with essentially returning everyone for the 3rd straight year in addition with elite caliber freshman

Pitching can carry this team back to Oklahoma city, how far we travel would depend on how productive offensively we can be.

Last year wasn't pretty at the plate but a lot can change in one off season. Despite losing Landry and Jaquish, essentially the best hitters in school history, I think in terms of 'overall' the offense could definitely be better this season. Doyle, Springfield and Andrews now have a full season of experience, all had many bright moments last season.

LSU is set up to be very solid and experienced next year with position players, we would only lose Emily and add a few dynamic freshman who will likely contribute early. Unfortunately we will have to rebuild in the circle and start the development cycle all over. If LSU Sunseri or Maribeth can truly develop this season, with the addition of Wickersham, I think LSU can be a very dangerous team as well next season.

The reality was in order to reach that next level or next step, we truly needed a little better recruiting and see see this in the 2018 class and forward. Consistent top 8 classes will do a lot.

I am almost certain we have something in the works for an addition pitcher next year as well. I am sure the staff has something planned with options, likely adding a transfer seems the most plausible from what I am hearing.
