Softball 2018 Recruiting Class just ranked #2 in the country

Extrainning Softball, a new softball site with softball analysts and scouts just ranked the 2018 class about a week ago. FloSoftball has LSU ranked #5 in the country, extra inning just ranked LSU #2.
A&M finished with the number one class, Tennessee at #4 and Florida at #5. All 8 LSU Signees are ranked in the top 200.
Shelby Wickersham is ranked #10
Georgia Clark is ranked #16
Savannah Stewart is ranked #45
Ali Kilponen is ranked #68
Karrington Houshmandzadeh is ranked #128
Morgan Cummins is ranked #140
Taylor Tidwell is ranked #144
Jordyn Perkins is ranked #146
Wickersham finished the year with a 1.06 ERA averaging almost 2 strike outs per inning. She rarely gave up hits but the one hit in the playoffs ended up being a homer.
Perkins finished the season at .572 but was out for a bit with appendicitis. She blasted 8 home runs and had a slugging percentage over 1.200
Tidwell hit just under .600 but hit 17 home runs with 46 walks, most intentional. She focused strictly on softball this year and it made a major difference. She slugged over 1.300
Kilponen had 0.43 ERA with about 300 K's to 17 Walks
Stewart batted in the .490's and stole over 30 bases. She likes to power slap. Hits a lot of line drives. Plays for Georgia Impact, dominated everywhere last summer in travel ball, highly regarded.
Karrington batted over .450 vs really good competition out in her area. Mostly a slapper.
Morgan Cummins batted .454 with 6 home runs and 11 doubles. Defense improved a bit this season. Her team was just knocked out play offs.
Don't have stats on Clark but word is she is killing it at the plate and definitely will add major power to this team next year. Would love to see her bat next to Sunseri, would be a lot of extra base hits
Lot of talent coming in, just unproven. Hopefully some of the bats coming in can make a major difference.
Tidwell and Clark are the two players who potentially could make dramatic impacts with their bats.

Stewart and Karrington, but Stewart likes to drive the ball and she has pop in her bat.

If driving is first option...ok with that...not so much a primary slapper....game is changing...

Sounds really good. Lets hope that these girls make the adjustment quickly to college ball. And if anyone of those signees are better than the returnees, Hopefully Beth will have the courage to play them.

In the future classes it looks like Beth has recruited more swing away hitters in the OF
LSU's top recruit for 2019 Ciara Briggs swings away, she is an OF

Ready for the day beth’s hitting is as great as her pitching staffs

300 K's to 17 walks is just ridiculous! Also gonna be interesting to see TJ Houshmanzadeh come to games. By the way I enjoy these updates 357!

Mother of all questions is still how Mt. Carmel lost in semi's with Shelby and Jordy and the others on that team
Posted on 5/28/18 at 4:17 pm to GT3324
Mt Carmels offense was complete shite throughout the season at times. Perkins was out for a bit but the bats were streaky it seemed. Whenever I Saw them, they had baserunners but no one wanted to drive them in.
I was shocked to see St. Amant get knocked out as early as it did, especially with the players on that team.
Some really interesting surprises in the playoffs this year in Louisiana.

Watched West Monroe play in quarters. Curve after Cuervo after curve. I talked to someone who said SA swans from the hip for 7 innings instead of being patient and going opposite.
My. Carmel was 10x more talented than anyone else in Div 1 besides Curtis. Will be interesting to see what future holds for them without Shelby and Jordyn.

As far a coaching at Mt. Carmel goes, there seems to be a lot of turnover in the different sports.
I am not sure why this is so, but maybe someone can shed some light.
It is a big Catholic Girl School and you'd think there would be incentive for someone to take over the athletic programs and stay the course. Being a Catholic school product all my elementary, middle and high school years, I do know the nuns are not real tuned into athletics. But, I am not sure there are still nuns "really" running the school, but do not know.

I think we need that! It's almost as if we are a pitcher dominant team for years. Not that it's a problem, but waiting for us to be known for our bats as well...

Sorry for the infamous double post...

It'll be a rough patch for Mt. Carmel to replace Jordyn and Shelby
I'm excited to see both in purple and gold next year.
Did Taylor Tidwell get taller, I swear it seems like she gets taller every time I saw her play

She has got to be 6 foot or close to it, next year in the threads people will be well saying she is a pretty young lady.
