You spend years making your pitch. You tell them everything the university has to offer, you tell them how they will be used, depth chart etc. You tell them of your high acedemic standards and all the help they will have with turoring and so on. You do all this and you get a commitment from a young man who wants to come to lsu. my question is...

why would coach keep hounding him? he knows what you have to offer and he has made a decision. What are you supposed to do as a coach? He made a commitment. what do ya call and talk about the weather? Seriously. I am ranting big time i know. I am also answering some of my other post about miles not talking to debose and he has suposedly let up on a couple others. of course other schools will recruit stronger, and i believe debose is a silent.

I am done ranting. Thanx for listening or uhh reading.

I agree, and I also think that if a kid gives a coach his word then he should keep it. Just my opinion.

The week after the Arkansas game all the staff went out to meet with current commits, to shore up etc.

Then off to see uncommitted players

MIles may not call them, but i am sure staff memeber text and call at least once a week, if not almost daily

I think you call and just chat. To not let the recruit feel forgotten and what not. Call and talk about how school is goin. Things like that.

Become some sort of mentor.

I can buy that. Calling 20 somthing kids every week, hiring new coaches, getting ready for the peach bowl, other recruiting obligations etc. That is alot of work.

all the more reason college football needs a early signing period.

The way it is now breeds negative recruiting. Trying to confuse and manipulate 17 year old kids to change their minds.

All this is made worse by the fact that you can't pay for the parent's trip unless they drive in.

An Early "official visit" (during spring ball) followed by an early signing period would work.
