I’m not. I’m bothered by the hypocrisy of those who screamed the loudest and now are the biggest water carriers for o while making excuses for him not producing the results that were demanded of the other coach.
There seems to be a mentality that everyone falls into one of two camps:
1. People who wanted Les Miles hired and are apologizing for Ed Orderon
2. People who apologized for Les Miles and want Ed Orgeron fired
I’ve never understood this. It’s not an either/or thing from folks I talk to in my daily life. There are plenty of fans on tRant who wanted Les gone and were pissed when Orgeron got fired. There are also plenty of fans who wouldn’t fire either coach.
I think the entire Orgeron vs. Les argument is silly. Les Miles had a ton of success at LSU. At the same time, in 2016 we were 5 years removed from our last SECw title and 9 years removed from our last national title. Further, we were on a multi year downward trend with no sign of change in the future.
The first couple of years that folks started calling for Miles’ job, I felt like it was a huge risk to replace a championship winning coach with an unknown. History is littered with programs that declined because they thought the grass was greener on the other side. However, by the time Miles was fired it was clear that the time had come to make a change.
The same logic applies to Orgeron. We rolled the dice and wound up going 15-0 in year 3. This season has been bad (though not as bad as 2008) and the OL recruiting is a concern. But there’s a risk/reward calculation every time you replace a head coach.
I guess “wait and see” isn’t a very hot take on a fan forum, but I think there are a LOT of fans who fall into that category.

If not O, who?
LSU has the toughest conference schedule in the nation along with AU.
LSU competes with the strongest program ever in modern college football, annual #1 classes monopolizing the best OL.
LA lacks big ugly OL and O hasn't been able to get enough of them from elsewhere.
LA has 6-12 top recruits a year at the level needed to compete, but O fills the class from OOS.
If not O, who could LSU hire that would recruit better?
