re: Slade Bolden needs to be offered.

If they can develop the young freshman quarterback and use Bolden more than just quarterback, then they can win it all as their offensive and defensive fronts will be possibly the best in the state outside Landry-Walker. Landry Walker returns their entire offensive line and entire defensive line-minus 1. But, in 2 years West Monroe will have one of their best defensive fronts ever.

G has to eat. I told him that last year. He has to gain significant weight to be able to play in that offense and stay healthy. He's a great kid with a great family. He could be the best QB to come through WM when it's all said and done. One of my favorite kids I ever coached.

JJ27 you may disagree, but he is the key to WM's season next year. They need Bolden like they did this past year playing in the slot; out wide; and at running back at specific times during the course of the game.

Unless a youngin' can really step up, Slade will be forced to be the RB imo. Then again, like I said, G has to gain weight.

Coach Sanders will earn his keep then.
Neville has a running back next year people on this site will begin to read about themselves in Andrew Greeley. That kid is bad. About 6'0 200 and growing. Looked great last year in JV. Neville offensively will be very good next year, but defensively will struggle. The best back I saw last year was Destrehan's Emery. That whole sophomore class for Destrehan is special. Their quarterback Blood and the young receiver that is about 6'3 180 along with Emery will make them formidable for the next 2 years. They have more than Emery coming up in recruiting.

No offense to GK, but he is far from ready to run the WM offense with the RPO that they now incorporate. He's sorta giraffe-like trying to get his long legs going and D linemen are too fast for him at this point. He threw a lot of interceptions throwing late across the middle and even on the jump balls to the athletes outside during freshman games. Of course, I was told by a few D coaches that the O coaches love his potential.
With Slade at QB, they have become so multiple. I was probably even more impressed with his passing ability than his overall athleticism from a progression stand point.
Slade throws a very nice ball whereas GK throws a ball that can be difficult to catch during games. Because he's taller and throws with a steeper arm angle, the ball seems to always be traveling with a downward trajectory. Those balls are difficult to catch even with a perfect pass when compared with one on a straight plain.

Maybe so, but Bolden gives Defenses more problems when he is moved around. It forces defensive staffs to have to run multiple sets with different personnel when he becomes a danger out wide, in the slot, in motion, at running back. You may disagree, but I guarantee you that Coach Alridge is going to make sure that GK is getting all the tutelage and coaching he can get for next year. He will go to the big camps and he will live in the weight room. He is Division I potential and he will develop as quickly as possible. He will be ready if the nurturing is there to make it happen.

WM doesn't really like kids going to camps. Not since having some get injured. Hell, Slade hurt his hand last year at Neville camp. Overzealous Wossman player tackles him in one on one's. Sumlin jumped his arse afterwards.

Oh no, I agree with everything that you said.
Initially, I didn't like benching Foust to have Slade at QB, but it was the right thing to do at the time.
The ball needed to be in his hands as much as possible. I also, think that several current freshman will have to step up on O next year. WM looks a little thin at the skill positions (talent wise) going into next season. I think that his numbers will be even bigger next year.

How do they players feel about that though? It is very important for players looking to increase their stock if they are on the fence with some schools. That should be a decision shared jointly with the parents and coaches. Bolden needs to go to as many camps as possible to bolster his stock. If he does so, I can assure you he will be a four star athlete. I've been watching the films of these "athletes" and no one seems any better than he is. His numbers would have been so ridiculous last year had Foust stayed at QB all year and Bolden stayed in the slot and out wide. Then he wouldn't be having the need to go and prove it at camps as much. My dad and I were PISSED that he wasn't used as much for his individual talents as much.

It will be good if some of the freshmen can step up but there are options from the current sophomore class.
I really believe they want Slade at QB next year and have Cameron Wright as an option to be the running back. Cameron is short but he is very powerful and ran the fastest forty and had the highest vertical during TCB last week. He played well in limited action versus Landry Walker. Norman came on strong last year (he is just really young) and if Murphy can learn to hang onto the ball he could be a viable option with his speed, strength, and vision. The problem with all three of these guys is they are all small; strong and fast, but small.
If they want Slade to move around to the Slot and running back, Carson Jones will probably be the option at QB. Jones is the sophomore that started at safety this year and led the team in interceptions. He has always played QB and some think he could be one of the better option QB's at West Monroe. He is a solid baseball recruit and has a good arm too. It will be interesting to see if they want to move him from defense. He did enjoy playing safety last year.
The freshman QB has the potential to really be good but as JJ27 says, he does need to add weight. He is being pushed for obvious reasons and will get playing time, but if he doesn't put on the weight expect to see Jones as the backup.
Moore is going to be a serious player. Great hands and instincts. His Dad has done a great job of coaching him. He will have his time to shine. There is some older talent in front of him at the DE position though. Gleason will obviously be staring and look for Preston Crain to move back to the defensive side at DE. Crain filled in great at OT last year, especially since he has never played that position before. Crain and Gleason or two serious bookends. If, and this is a big "IF", Myron Miles can get his act together look for him to be back on the team pushing for playing time at DE or Linebacker.
Boyer will see the field next year but at what position is the question. He will probably on both sides of the ball but his endurance is a question. He has a great first step and is strong as they come but he will need to lose weight to see significant time on the DL.
Just my thoughts, lucky for all us the coaches make the decisions.

I'm convinced, that when it comes to white skill position guys in LA. This board completely loses its collective minds.

Hahaha, I don't. I thought Bolden was an overrated player being hyped up by everyone in town until I watched the tape. Say what you will about white boys, but this white boy is as good as you will see in high school period.
I like it that he is older too. He is mature and he gets better each year. He hasn't stayed the same physically whatsoever and improves his body and his game. He hasn't regressed or flat-lined since his freshman year, he has been getting better at every single thing he needs to get better at from size, strength, speed and agility.
I think Trey Quinn was legit too, but he went to LSU where they can make anyone of quality look like crap on offense. I saw Rueben Randle in high school and he actually got WORSE when he got to LSU. At Bastrop he was something I've never seen at the high school level and may never seen again. He gets to LSU and they never improved a single thing.

Please name these said players?!?

Saw Reggie Mcneal, Anthony Thomas, Tommy Banks, Jamie Spencer, Rueben Randle, Brock Berlin, Abram Booty, Michael Clayton at Christian Life; Early Doucet; Jack Hunt; Terrace Marshall, Devonta Jason, Trevon Reed out of Thibodeaux; Timothy Molton; Deangelo Benton; Devonta Smith; Devonta Lee; Randall mackey; Trey Quinn; DeSean Smith; Kristian Fulton sophomore and junior years; Shyrone Carey; Kevin Faulk; Arnaz Battle; you get the picture. Rueben Randle is the best I ever seen.
Oh, I saw Cedric Benson too. He is the second best player I've seen besides Randle. Randle did things that were NFL style talent at the receiver position and put on shows for crowds that left people numb. Against Evangel-the game that actually ended their streak, but not because of his doing-he dazzled Evangel fans and ol' Jerm Rascoe when he ropeadope and made their defense look silly. One of the best individual plays and performances I've ever seen in person. Randle was just better than everybody and anybody he played. There was a reason he was the #1 or #2 ranked player in the nation his senior year. He gets to LSU and he never improves and I never saw him excel at what he did best. He was the best punt-returner I had ever seen in high school with jukes like Peter Warrick, but I never saw that part of his game at LSU. A waste.

Please name a few of these white skill players that the board has gone crazy over. I'm just curious how many you can come up with.

I don't mind him bringing it up (although unfactual), but would like him to clarify why he would not offer Bolden. He will be offered when it is said and done. He can compete in the SEC with his size, quickness, and speed. He isn't Marshall or Jason in terms of being a deep threat, but he is a receiver who will make their lives way better on the outside with his ability in the slot.

I find it hard to believe that either of those two are much faster than Bolden.
Posted on 3/2/17 at 11:58 am to RATeamWannabe
Bolden isn't 6'4 or 6'3. He also doesn't have the length of those two or the ability to catch the ball at the apex like you want in a wide-out playing outside. Marshall is the best deep threat in this years class and Jason is one of the best threats for jump-balls deep or in the red-zone I've seen since Randle and
Clayton were. Watch Jason's highlights and see just how good he is in the red-zone on jump balls. Watch his hands and his ability to locate the ball at it's apex. Bolden may be faster, but he is fitted in the slot where he can abuse linebackers and safeties attempting to stay with him on intermediate routes while also contending with his ability to split the seams very quickly and get downfield if they attempt to stop anything 5-10 yards. He will get his offer.
