No mention of the fact that the kid's uncle is on the OSU staff as the Player Development Specialist.
Odd.

Just got off the phone with his Dad. OSU did a great job of defining his role, telling him he won't be a change of pace back, he'll set the pace. Showed him their recruiting board with his name at the top, etc. A kid who played little league with him in Utah is already there and this is huge.
Parents LOVE LSU. Mom is distraught and Dad is sad, but they want Boo to decide without interfering.
Les and Frank will visit at 5pm today. (My guess is to get an OV).
They did NOT move to Gonzales to get exposure. Matt got a job at Marathon and they decided Gonzales was a good place. They heard that LA Football was as tough as it gets and wanted Boo to go against the best. That's it. The job was more important with 8 children, I assure you.
Stay tuned, Les is pretty convincing...
Excellent information, thanks. I naturally hope the kid can be persuaded to hang with LSU but if not, wish him & family the best. This is a big decision and before all said & done will have lots of things come into play including, proximity to family. Ain't over til it's over.

Glad to hear we are still going to go after him. There is a reason he got an offer at camp during the summer, so hopefully Les and Frank can change his mind. I think he would be very useful under Cam's tutelage

Based on this tweet, it seems pretty unlikely:
boo ?@sionepalelei: My heart opened up to OSU!! N that's that!! You can hate me from decommitting from LSU but I feel like this the place for me

surprised he hasn't taken an official by now, considering he originally commited in July.
i'm sure there are reasons. anyway, good luck to him moving forward (either way), and props to LSU for holding the scholly after the injury.

It's the Fournette and Magee show in 2014

We've got a bad habit of not staying in contact with commits/recruits. We hear this over and over that "so and so just seemed to want me more," etc.
I haven't spoken to Boo's Dad yet, but I think he was feeling ignored by LSU and OSU was making him a big time priority.
I guess I just wasn't such a baby in HS as the average recruit these days. If I worked my arse off for that one commit, and get it, then I'm golden. I don't need the coaches at LSU constantly calling me to keep in touch etc. I got my scholarship to the college I want to play for, now I just keep my grades up, graduate, and head to BR during summer training or after summer break.
What the hell could you possibly need to keep in contact for? This isn't just on Boo, this is for commits in general.

I take "vacations" to StillWater Ok all the time. The sights there are beautiful. A definite top 10 vacation destination in the US.

Not very professional to tell a family you'll be at their house at 5 and haven't shown up 2 hours and 20 minutes later...

are you saying Les didn't show?
Posted on 12/9/13 at 7:23 pm to BasilBogomil
Haha, that's not his Uncle, he's a childhood friend of Boo's Dad. They have NO family in Stillwater.

Maybe they are busy recruiting someone who wants to play for LSU.

and it's "professional" to commit to OSU over the weekend with no notice while LSU's offer was still good?
just an observation
if he doesn't want to play for LSU, that's fine. If I were the staff, i'd be looking elsewhere for someone who actually wants to play for LSU
