Based of the things said about his brother's exit here, I doubt we ever "had him in the bag." The package deal thing can go either way. Sometimes it pays off (Taking Lanard to help get Leonard Fournette, Nkemdiche, etc), and sometimes it blows up in your face (Janzen Jackson and father, anyone?).

I'll say it again, OM best players over the past 3 seasons were not from the 2012 class outside of treadwell. They were the 2010 and 2011 Houston Nutt classes. Recruiting rankings aren't everything. Freeze is a better coach than he gets credit for. We only lead the series 59-41 so if they haven't done significant recruiting since 61' how does that look for us. Just sayin
Thats 59-41, numb nuts, not 59-51...18 more wins is a significant difference and you're trying to make it sound like it's been a toss up.

Jackson's Dad got a job at Miami of Ohio. Are you saying Lane Kiffin arranged this while the HC at Tennessee to get Janzen?

Like Byrd? What was he, 16-43, or something like that?

You mention the worst game of his career where their D1 running back didn't play so his only option was to throw? He never threw 43 passes EVER in a game. Btw same year....he beats WM at WM where Byrd got taken to the woodshed a few games later...smh come back when you know what your talking about...thanks. LSU ain't getting him and you can be upset all you want but don't try to take away from the kids talent.

I don't care where he goes. I question his loyalty, leaving Calvary and all those other kids that counted on him, to go be Mr Elite. That's not leadership, in any way, shape, or form.

Shea did not want to leave Calvary. His dad made him do it. I'm sure he's had plenty of good experiences at IMG but at the time he wanted to go for the 3 peat with Calvary.

Ole Miss was never one play away from a playoff berth even if they beat Arkansas. Ole Miss has 3 damn losses which is the same number LSU has.
Even if Ole Miss beat Arkansas and managed to beat UF and win the SEC they would still have had 2 losses. One to UF in the regular season and that killer loss to Memphis.

Do some of y'all just make shite up to try to prove some point you are trying to make?

Before any of you jump on the Ole Miss bandwagon here is a bit of reality for you. Ole Miss last won an SEC football title in 1963. They were driving Studebakers and Packards back then and Archie Manning would have been in Junior High. The damn Beatles hadn't even hit the USA yet. NASA was still 6 years away from Neil Armstrong landing on the Moon.

So before some of y'all start cheering "Hotty Toddy" stroll down memory lane and put that in perspective.

A little more Ole Miss perspective. Since Ole Miss last winning an SEC Football Championship in 1963, LSU has won:

*7 SEC Football Titles
*8 or 9 SEC West Titles (won or tied)
*played for 3 National Titles
*won 2 National Titles

In that same time span Ole Miss has won:

*tied with LSU for the 2003 SEC West
Title(LSU won SEC and NC).

So please stop the program comparisons between LSU and Ole Miss. There is no comparison. Its laughable.

Just for fun. More Ole Miss perspective.

Consider that with one of the most talented and experienced teams Ole Miss has had in 30 years, Ole Miss lost 3 games and is excited about their football team and program.

Contrast that with LSU with one its youngest most inexperienced teams in recent memory lost 3 games but was ready to flush the coaching staff

This! I was talking to my friend who is an Ole Miss fan and asked him if they would ever can Freeze considering one of the better teams in their history didn't meet expectations. He said no way, if you bring Ole Miss to a bowl game then your job is safe.

Completely different expectations.

Lol. Om loses almost everything after this year. You people are comical thinking om is some force.

WRs/TEs
Quincy Adeboyejo - 37 rec 581 yards 7 TDs
Damore'ea Stringfellow - 36 rec 503 yards 5 TDs
Markell Pack - 29 rec 370 yards 3 TDs

They bring back 3 of their top 5 WRs

If Evan Engram returns (TE) that's 32 rec 368 yards 2 TDs

That's not including the #6 and #11 WR they got in last year's class, or the #11 WR and #6 TE they have committed for 2016.

QB/RB
They bring back Chad Kelly (65.2% 3740 pass yards 27 pass TDs 12 ints, 427 rush yards 10 rush TDs in 12 games) who is included in 4 of their top 5 rushers.

The OL will be the major problem as they likely only bring back 1 starter.

You just have to face that the new Ole Miss is here to stay. They are top 10 in recruiting this year, 17th last year, 15th the year prior, and 8th the year prior.

Now the other side of the ball is a whole other problem, but that wasn't what I was talking about. Y'all get too damn defensive on here.

Is this guaranteed? You think he won't look at moving on after a good season? They didn't have any run game in the SEC until Tunsil returned, and now he's gone, along with most of their impact defensive players. No run game and a step back on defense means 4-5 losses in the SEC.

OM is not here to stay. Let them thwart Bama going to the playoffs a few times and the NCAA will finally sniff around enough and pop their asses. The NCAA will not allow a Podunk college like OM be a problem for a big name program for long. It's all about $$ and having a program like OM going for NCs is bad for business. Seriously, how many viewers are going to watch an NC game with OM in it verses an NC game with Bama in it? Let them beat Bama again next year and see how fast the sanctions are put on them.

I know. I just think is seems likely that an agreement was in place when he signed. Lanard seems to be a talented guy, but he was signed to be either an HB or a WR. Neither are exactly positions of need at the moment, and he certainly didn't have the stats and stars of other signees from last year. Do you think he would have been signed last season if Leonard wasn't here? Maybe, maybe not.

Whether it was a worked out agreement between the family and the staff, or just the staff showing respect to a sold LSU family, it was well worth it, and I hope Lanard develops into a contributing player in another year or two.
