Great read. That article makes you realize how much luck is involved with recruiting. The only reason he didn't get an offer at Bama's camp was they didn't evaluate him at the same positions and he was tired from the LSU camp.
He could just as easily been a Bama commit if their camp was a day before. Regardless, great find by Les and he sounds solid to his word.

Doesn't sound like little Nicky will be a problem.

I really think this kid deserves a shot at QB. He fits crowtons system perfectly and is, in my opinion, a far better QB prospect than Shep.
that said, we've got a loaded stable right now.

After watching those videos and seeing that his best friend is going to Bama i have a feeling he will eventually switch to Bama.

Well, that would just be funny after all the dogging he's getting from their fanbase.

Good read. Thanks for posting!
Sounds like a bright kid with his head on straight. Now, we can only hope he honors his word and sticks with LSU.

Thank you for posting that article.
I wish nothing but great things for this young man... So often, it seems, young men of lesser character (than Gibson) are doomed to relive the fates of their fathers...
Everything happens for a reason... It is unfortunate that a young man died violently without ever knowing his child, but it resulted in an altered course for those he would have called family. His sister's fierce commitment to education and drive to forge a better life tells me that it was "in the genes" for Sam to want to do the same... His mother was blessed to find the "right man at the right time" following the loss of her son's father. Making a geographical shift is often far more difficult than making a mental shift...
Again... Everything happens for a reason. Hopefully this young man can look back upon the experiences which brought him to the point where he is now and he can recognize this fact.
Nick Saban and Alabama are the father he will never get to know - Aware that a fine young man was about to enter their world, but unwilling or unable to prioritize him enough to ensure a future relationship. In both cases, I can't help but think Sam Gibson will be a better man because of it.

His coached has talked before about the kind of guy he is and that he won't break his commitment. Sam himself keeps saying he's a man of his word. I don't think there is any chance he goes to bama unless LSU pushes him in that direction.

Sounds like a great Step-Dad.......

Always the quarterback, he can only think of just three games his teams have lost since he was 10 years old ...
Wow.......

thx for posting.. impressive journey for him and his sister considering she graduated from UAT w/ a master's in taxation (didn't even know that was a graduate level degree, unless it's similar to a CPA). i find it hard to believe he has such strong feelings for LSU considering it's a whole lot closer and his sister received a graduate level degree from there.. hope i'm wrong.. sounds like a great kid from a great family who came from humble beginnings
