No one. It's simple, attitude and coaching. Hell most of the dts aren't more than 5'8, again, attitude and coaching. Big time culture shift

I’m sure the coaching and culture are very strong, but you still have to have players at the end of the day. Ruston hasn’t been short on talent for several years.

We all know WM recruited the best players in NE Louisiana and Ruston was irrelevant and now over the last few years Ruston is just this powerhouse again like they were in the 80s? Where was all that talent the last 30 years? Now look at WM...they hardly have any SEC type athletes anymore. Besides the punter, who was the last WM player to go to LSU?

I agree, definitely a lot of talent, I was just saying they are being coached up well and it can't be overstated. Definitely lots of talent coming up as well as what they have. Doing a great job developing early and using all resources.

Albeit the talent this past few years has increased, partially due to a small population surge in Lincoln Parish, Ruston has always had talent. They just lacked coaching and vision. It makes a much bigger difference than the casual fan realizes. For example, Ruston had a 1st round NFL draft pick at QB, Patrick Ramsey. He went 2-17 as a starter there. They've also had a couple of NFL CBs since then, and a couple of NFL DL, Kyle Williams being the obvious one. The 2003 LSU national championship defense had two Ruston players starting on it. The "30 year" hiatus was absolutely due to horrible coaching and a lack of cultural structure in Ruston. A great coaching staff and facilities upgrades is mostly what has Ruston dominating right now.

That is an awful take. Ruston doesn’t have any players that didn’t grow up in Ruston. They have a good amount of talent right now, but they’ve always had talent. The difference now at Ruston, and West Monroe for that matter, is coaching. Ruston is much better at the coaching level than WM is at this moment.

The only transfer I can think of isn’t there this year. Ruston got a Neville WR that was their best WR a year or two ago. Ruston isn’t recruiting. The talent has always been there and squandered by poor coaching. They have a phenomenal staff and they made a big turn when they got Kyle on defense and Hugh freaking Jackson on offense when he left Grambling for a bit. Ruston deserves what they’re getting on the field. They have earned it.

Ruston doesn’t have WM players that’s stupid. WM under Shows recruited Monroe ie( Cam Rob, B James, others). They can’t do that with the emergence of Neville( not so much emergence) just players aren’t crossing the river. West Ouachita is better than in the past- Recruiting in Monroe is wild- St Frederick QB & backup QB last year now start for Ouachita and Neville respectively. River Oaks has brothers who transferred in as a QB & RB and have video game stats playing against no talent. One of ROaks lineman is an Ole Miss commit. I have a friend who’s son is a 6’4” 240lb sophomore & Neville offered them to rent an apt in Monroe and play. He stayed at a small private school. Shows was a college coach literally and came to WM and built that program up to a juggernaut. With his passing rip they no longer get those D1 skilled player but do still have great facilities it’s just every public school has caught up. They’re are more like a Virginia Tech team, with good special teams and good coaching. The QBs and RBs are not as good as in the past. Neville has a secondary that all 4 will play D1 ball. WM has maybe none. WM has switched from being a Football dynasty to now becoming a strong baseball program.
