He has the potential to be the best dual threat quarterback since VY, which would be something because VY is the single best dual threat quarterback to ever play at the college level. And if Shep can be anything close to that at the collegiate level, we are getting ourselves something that we have never been privy to at LSU. And I really like the fact that both Ford and Pratt already play in an offense similar to Cy Ridge.

I like this comment after the article:

quote:

I have watched Cy-Ridge for three years now. Russel makes you say WOW! Even the away team's crowd is shocked by his ability to carry his team. I beleive the coaches have held him back during the season to avoid injuries. Well now he is being unleashed. If Hassan Lipscomb is back from knee injury, they will dominate. If you chear against them, then you will fall into the chorus of the opponent."Get'im, someone tackle him please"

Russell Shepard is the definition of a playmaker.

Let's say things don't work out for him at QB (I really think he'll stay there though)..you can use him just about anywhere on offense.

In the slot, split out wide, you can motion him into the backfield to give him the ball (a la percy harvin) or you can run the single-wing with him since it's become a popular package these days.

Shep is going to be great.

LINK

I'm pretty new to this board so I don't know if this has been posted, but it's worth reading. Its a feature story on Russell about his upbringing, etc.

Its really very scary how talented this kid could become before its all said and done. If he ever learns to develop a strong passing game, it could be borderline cheating. He's obviously come a long way with his throwing, hopefully he can continue to develop. Im thinking Junior/Senior year at LSU he could honestly be our next Heisman. Strictly potential at this point though. Should be fun to watch him regardless. Getting Shep is better than landing McKnight.

This guy may make the off-season bearable. I think this guy keeps LSu a national power for at least another 3 years

that new article is unbelievable. i keep waiting for the catch on this kid, and it never comes. i was really excited when he committed months ago, and i just keep getting more excited. rusty will leave his finger prints all over the LSU program, im sure of that.

Man, the first thing I noticed in that film was the overall quality of the HS football in this division in TX

several good looking athletes, and they ran some solid plays

yeah, no shite. It looked like college competition out there. That shows how impressive Russell really is by dominating that talent level.
