A few days after others (jimbo & ATM) hit the twitterverse taking credit for crap they had nothing to do with and getting shamed by national media outlets, this man shows a small insignificant thing that he actually accomplished and earned.

James Cregg

Hopefully tomorrow he will post about how his one year as Tennessee's O-line coach they only gave up 12 sacks for the entire season. Then the next day do a tweet about how at USC his line only gave up 8 sacks for the season while not having one senior. And how one of the freshmen he coached up was named a freshman All-American.

"In 2009, he was hired to coach the offensive line at the University of Tennessee. That season, the Volunteers allowed just 12 sacks, tied for fewest on the Southeastern Conference."

"In 2011, USC finished second in the nation in sacks allowed (eight) despite not starting a senior along the offensive line. Kalil was named first-team All-America, while guard Marcus Martin was chosen as a first-team Freshman All-America."

If Cregg can shore up our pass pro as his resume suggests and we secure 2/3 of the big 3 RBs, recruiting OL won't be a problem at all.

Great that Cregg is putting that out there. As much shite as Brewster is getting he is is well known with his recruiting abilities. He's one of the reasons that FSU was able to get Marvin Wilson to sign.

Not bad for a TE's coach. But I guess he isn't responsible for recruiting a bunch of guys at his own position every year.

In this case it is deserved. You can't do what he did and not expect repercussions. I think that may and should cost A&M a lot of money.

I'm not sure if true but I saw something that makes sense in the comments of his tweet. It was said that the reason the guy who didn't go to FSU - Kevin Johnson is included is because it was an advertisement he lifted. It was an ad for Nike, Adidas, Under Armor or another company. Someone - probably at A&M took the ad and wiped the original ad stuff and changed it to an A&M deal.

Pretty damn stupid for everyone involved and it probably will cost them a lot of money.

Exactly right. He's just classified as a TE Coach. He's more valuable as a straight recruiter. Think of him as a former LSU member in Austin Thomas.

I don't know anything about that but sure it could happen. But if any LSU fan has learned anything it's that TAMU has the $ to spend on coaching.

ESPN Article that has links to the tweet:

Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey is not happy with a Texas A&M assistant coach for using his photo as a recruiting tool.

Basically the TE's coach at ATM posted a graphic or poster on twitter. It had guys that had attended FSU and for some reason a guy that attended Wake Forest, who are all in the pros. There are eight players with their NFL uniforms and at the bottom it lists their average salary.

In poor taste the tweet mentions something like "come get the truth". Then what was interesting is an ex FSU player was pissed and called him out. The only truth may have been the salary part and 7 of the 8 players attended the school Jimbo coached at.

ATM is using eight NFL player's images without permission to advertise a school they didn't go to, implying that Jimbo coached them on defense and may have stolen and changed a multi-million or billion dollar company's ad to do it.

Brewster's tweet with a BUNCH of interesting responses including the NFL guy's at the very top.

We have to get better at pass blocking.

(I've said this for over a decade now - we haven't been great at pass blocking since 2007 - Crowton and Studrawa's first years as OC and OL, respectively. This has contributed to problems with our QB development and chronic problems in the passing game.)

What ??? Are you saying Austin was not the sole reason Leonard Fournette came to LSU? 24/7 insinuated he was and they have NEVER been wrong about anything.

Depends on which exploits and what facet you're talking about.

Brewster is pretty damn good at 1-on-1 recruiting. And a good "old school" organizer. He's very experienced at it. As far as "processes", using technologies mainly and looking at efficiency of resources (ROI), not so much.

AT was exceptional at organizing and no slouch in 1-on-1 recruiting. With that organizational skill came a pretty good "ROI recruiting" skill set.

And on this board, as usual, sometimes his value was overstated. Most often it was understated. He worked for Orgeron (so he must not be worth a shite) and then left us (confirmed- he ain't worth a shite). The real answer lies somewhere in between with the majority, on this board, understating his value.

There's more to recruiting than reeling in the fish and visits. It is the net result you want, but there is a whole lotta work that precedes that.

Let me postulate this: If AT had been here as we approached signing day maybe the bad strategy that caused us to pass on Goodrich when we did may not have happened. Yeah AT wouldn't have predicted Surtain doing what he did, nor would he have changed that. But the lack of strategy and what-ifs were a result of "old school" coaches doing recruiting. Why are we always on the wrong end of every "business decision" and "well, he went against mom". Maybe because the business of recruiting has changed.

JaCoby Stevens' entire family is from Crowley Louisiana. Except for his parents and sister his whole family either lived in Crowley, Bogalusa or Baton Rouge. Now his whole family including his sister and parents live in Louisiana. JaCoby started visiting Mike the Tiger annually when he was four years old.

From Advocate article:

"The LSU roster lists JaCoby Stevens as being from Tennessee.

But this is no Tennessee guy.

“I consider myself a Louisianan,” Stevens said. “People ask me that all of the time — Louisiana or Tennessee? I was born in Tennessee, but I have Louisiana blood flowing through my veins. If you ask me, I’ll always claim Crowley, Louisiana.”

“It’s kind of been surreal,” Jeremy Stevens, JaCoby’s dad, said. “For the first couple of weeks, I’m like, ‘Man, we’re back in Louisiana.’ Seeing family and friends and the weather… I’m like, ‘Damn, we’re in Louisiana!’”

It happened while 4-year-old JaCoby visited the cage of Mike the Tiger. The family returned each summer to visit family. JaCoby always knew what that meant.

“He had to see Mike the Tiger," Jeremy said, "before we left Louisiana.""
