They already have. This is no longer allowed.

I don't have the rule in front of me, but supposedly you can't hire anyone associated with a player, in a coaching position or even to work your summer camps. I don't know where the line is drawn or the specifics.

I believe this is the first year of the rule.

Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo just had to sit out a game for hiring someone associated with a prospect to work at his summer camp. This was commonplace just recently.

No.

UT never had any intent on hiring him. They just needed to get Guidry out of LA, and closer to UT.

Mission Accomplished.

I'm glad they did. Kid is trouble.

By UThug's standards,he is just your typical recruit.

Why is there always smoke about a kid from LA goin to bama and his coach getting a spot on thier staff?

It's not just LSU. The same thing happened with a guy on Gadsden High's staff, or was about to happen. I can't recall the guy's name but I'm going to ask someone who would still know but when the NCAA was investigating Kirkpatrick's grade changes and other issues, this coach became somewhat of the "fall guy" and didn't get that job with Bama. He talked a bit but not enough to make a difference to the investigators.

I know it's a basketball rule, but I can't tell for sure if it extends to other sports or not.

lol he went from no chance to qualify in the spring of his junior year to likely to qualify after either the summer or fall of his senior year. I'm pretty sure the former. The ALSDE was also asked to review certain grade data at the NCAA's request.

Bama is my personal, non-insider take on where he will wind up.

The coach's name was Ali Smith. All the Operation RedDogtard's got his initials wrong as OS. I knew that was wrong, the trick was remembering his first name. My friend is a coach at Saks and is friends with the Head Coach at GCHS. He told me about the interview when it happened, I can't recall the exact date anymore as nothing came of it. BTW HC Billingsley is a great guy, this other coach just got played a bit.

First, it was Joe Mcknight and JT curtis, then janzen and his dad, then sylve and his coach, now hill and his coach. Whos next? Landon Collins and his coach?

Not really. I don't remember anything with Joe McKinght/JT Curtis or B. Sylve.

Janzen's dad gets an offer to coach at a school just 4 hours away a day or two before NSD... Hmmmm.

It's not just an excuse though, a lot of schools do this.

LSU originally hired Frank Wilson for a cup of coffee and all of a sudden we get committments from Buster Davis, Daryl Johnson and Dominic Cooper who were from OP Walker where Wilson was the coach at the time.

Gus Malzhan just happens to get the OC job at arKansas the same year that Andrew Norman, Damian Williams and Mitch Mustain come out of high school.

Steve Pardue at Kentucky is now coaching his former players Mychal Bailey, Randall Burden, Tristian Johnson, Qua Huzzie, Joe Mansour and Patrick Simmons.

Art Briles gets the Houston job when Kevin Kolb and John Harrell were coming out of high school. (He was a year removed from being the High School coach where they went to high school, but he still was their head coach at one point.)

Kerry Coombs got a job at Cincy the year a bunch of his players were highly ranked, although it may have backfired because the only recruits he got from his high school were lesser ranked guys (Dominick Goodman, Terrill Byrd, Andre Revels, Evan Davis and Brandon Mills).

Tennessee basically hires all MAC coaches. Before any of them make a hire, they call us(AD department) and ask hey,"Are there any recruits we can get you by hiring their father or handler?"

Basically the only way we can fill out a recruiting class

I wouldn't be shocked at all if Hill chose UT, as that is his best chance for early PT.

Yah, a lot of people on the premium sites were high on Hill as little as a week ago. Even one of our scout mods said to expect a commit from an LA player, could still be Mickey Johnson

I hadn't been on in a while because of the holidays. When I got back and checked this morning, everyone seems to think he's headed to Bama.

I think if it's truly between us an Alabama, it's us. I think the only way Hill leaves Louisiana is for more PT at UT.
