Suze, Val and Jenny R hound the judges all the time and get away with it.

Kiya Johnson finishes 3rd at the Nastia Liukin cup. Wasn't her best meet unfortunately but not bad by any means. I cannot wait till Jay constructs her bars routine, her current one is awful.

Yes, Kiya did very well. I think she’ll also be able to step in and contribute immediately on floor, vault, and beam.
Also, I think the potential floor lineup next year is amazing. Campbell, Harold, and Edney are locks. I hesitate to put Desiderio as a lock because she can be a tad inconsistent. I think Kai Rivers and Kiya Johnson will be in the lineup. I also think Ferrer will challenge for a spot. So excited to see how floor shapes out next year.

I don’t like thinking about next year because I can’t even imagine LSU without Sarah, Lexie, McKenna, and Juliana!

Kiyas bars were extremely off last night from what she typically does. I think with a proper bars composition she will slide in on bars as well. Kai will be in there as well.
Floor will actually be pretty damn strong next year if Edney can be consistent. Kai and Kiya are phenomenal on floor. Desiderio should easily be in the floor lineup but she needs to get more fit this offseason. Its impacting her tumbling amplitude and stamina. Plus it puts more stress on her body.
Floor is probably Ferrer's best event, she is a tumbler. I definitely think she will see a lot of opportunities next year on floor. I think they are just gonna hold off on her floor this year as its extremely late in the season. Although she might see reps next week or the last weekend, when we rest Edney and Finnegan for a couple events. Campbell is suppose to upgrade her first tumbling pass on floor for next year.

I know we had a new recruit in stands last night. Not sure who she was but she looked familiar. Possibly a transfer

RQS should go up to 197.38 still 4th but gaining on UF.

LSU had multiple recruits and commits in attendance last night. Haleigh Bryant was there, she wasn't in the NL Cup this year so she came down this weekend.
Hoping to hear some good news by May.

Where is Leanne Wong leaning? Is LSU still trying to recruit her?

I've been told some really mixed things but she has a really good relationship with the Florida coaches.
LSU is still recruiting her yes.

Yeah it seems like most of the elites flock to either UF or UCLA. I don’t get it because LSU has the best fans and the best training facility. The University invests a lot into its gymnastics program. But I’m always excited to watch and cheer on whomever is on the team.

I mean honestly, your top level 10 kids can score just as good as the elites. Not that there is anything wrong with getting the best level 10's. (Gnat, Hambrick, Edney)
Elites come in with more training, more polished w/ higher degrees of difficulties. Issue is a lot of them are beat up when they get to college (Priessman, Desiderio)
That said, I think the big thing moving forward is LSU hopefully starts brining in kids that aren't dramatically hampered with injuries. To be honest, I think that is what has separated this year from the other years. The injuries have hindered training and development big time. Little did injuries impact those teams in 2016 and 2017. There were extremely healthy for the most part. And the kids that were coming in were ready to go off the back. When you have kids come in on crutches and are turning around getting surgeries done, its gonna make a big difference.
-Campbell is out for a year and a half before LSU
-Dean out almost two years before LSU
- Ferrer was out with an injury after undergoing surgery a little over a year ago
-Desiderio went almost a full year without training bit due to her ankle injuries
-Kirby out after knee scope
-Durante had an ACL injury before LSU, limited to only bars year one
Hell Cannamela has had to give up bars, and limited her floor training due to her back problems. If she were healthy, she would easily be the other starter on bars.
If we can get Kai and Kiya to campus healthy (Knock on wood), and keep the returners healthy. LSU will be in really good shape.

Oh I totally agree with you. Also, you forgot to add Sarah to the long list of injured elite athletes. She took a few years off after 2012 due to injuries and much needed rest.
And I know Kai has had a few injuries this past year but I don’t think it’s anything major.
Also, does anyone know if LSU is recruiting Sydney Barros from Texas Dreams? I think she’s gonna be a star in college.

Yes I was surprised she didn’t get an assignment after attending the last camp since there aren’t that many junior national elites attending the camps. Also surprised not to see Tori or Olivia at the camps...are they injured?

Completely slipped my mind but LSU got a commitment from Courtney Goodrich from Orlando Metro gymnastics. She is a giant tumbler on floor, has a double Arabian, trains a full in and double layout.
Walk on that will join LSU this coming fall. Will be a very big project for power events. Mainly a floor specialist. At this point this team needs bodies. I am not even sure how capable Caitlin Smith will be when she gets to LSU. Its essentially Kai and Kiya.

She actually used to train be GAGE before she moved

Thanks for the info. Wow, she is a great tumbler! Do you know if she does any other events? I’m assuming maybe vault because she has so much power.
