Haha got it, I was wondering why there wasn’t more buzz about it

Anyone know where Amanda Cashman is considering now? She was a lock for Utah, but she didn't sign with them. Maybe she's just walking on there, but word on the street - she's looking at other schools. Any interest with LSU?

Big time vaulter and is a good beam worker. LSU has a scholarship open as far as I am aware...
If that doesn't happen a transfer needs to be added

Do you know if Victoria Nguyen is looking to sign with someone this year?

Hi I have enjoyed skimming this thread and it is great to read the options of other gym fans.
So while I don't think it a huge blow to your very healthy program I am afraid it looks like your/are friends in Athens are the winners for the Cashman minisweepstakes
Check the instagram status
I am more than a little bit bummed because I really like what I have seen of Cashman on video, but the Utes put themselves into a scholarship crunch and don't seem to have UCLA's ability to somehow maintain a 20 athlete roster...

Its really amazing how they get certain kids who are top athletes to "walk on"
This is a body count sport
And Utah won't hurt really losing Cashman, y'all have Jaedyn Rucker and Abby Paulson coming who will be immediate impacts. The 2020 class is sick with Malie O'Keefe and Deanne Soza. Georgia is much more desperate right now for talent.

Yes Tigerbait, as a guest I don't want dwell on Utah too much, but like most fans I get "greedy" when it comes to recruiting.
That said I have to admit look forward (and knowing its on paper) I haven't felt this good about Utah's Gym recruiting in ages:
2019
Jillian Hoffman
Abby Paulson
Jaedyn Rucker
2020
Jaylene Gilstrap (I think her skill set will be great in NCAA)
Malie O'Keefe
Deanne Soza
2021
Kara Eaker
Lauren Letzsch
Grace McCallum
With the possible exception of Utah's 2015 team it has been a long time (2009 maybe) that I haven't felt Utah would have to get "lucky" to beat the OU's, Florida, and recent LSU & UCLA teams... If everyone hit those teams were just deeper than the the Utes and capable of getting really big scores from a post season judging panel.
Hopefully (for me) that will change going forward.
In any case best wishes to the Tigers this coming season, I am looking forward that February quad meet in St Charles.
If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask.
thanks again.

Utah is certainly on the rise with some big recruiting classes coming up, no reason why they shouldn't be in the conversation for titles.
Best wishes to Utah, be sure to put an arse whooping on UCLA this season

When will they hold the intra squad meet to determine the lineup for friday? and will it be open to the public?
Posted on 12/31/18 at 1:25 pm to Rowbear
It will be the day before (so Thursday). The lineup is pretty much set in DD and Jay's mind, there might just be a little "who earns it" type situations. Seasons past, the 3rd beam spot (or maybe 4th) was always up for competition because they just didn't have a natural go to fit. I really don't see that being the case this year, but I could see that as a possibility on other events. LSU gym policy has always been open door, so I don't see why you couldn't go watch if you wanted.
Side note, since it is NYE and everyone is trying to be a better person and all that stuff, I would encourage you to join TAF if you haven't already and to contribute to the gymnastics team financially. Every little bit helps. TAF's link is below.

Thanks for the info. I do agree about joining TAF. I am a member of the Tiger spotters and have been for a couple of years now. I do enjoy meeting the members at the meets. Thanks for all of your insights. I do enjoy learning more about the program.

We also have a gymnastics booster club called the tiger spotters. It directly supports The gym team and activities for the booster club itself. Plus you get some really good swag

Sierra Ballard was in attendance last night

Our beam looked good last night although the "pausing rule" must have been applied on a couple of the routines. Campbell and Finney had beautiful sets. UCLA hit the 197+ mark last night but Alabama and Auburn had some issues and ended in the 194 range. It will be interesting to see how Oklahoma and Utah will finish tonight. Florida does not compete until next week.

LSU easily passes the 197 mark without the vaulting miscue
Desiderio fell on floor, Edney went out of bounds, Priessman had a rare bars miscue
Dean's routine wasn't bad but she paused before a couple elements which probably incurred a .10 deduction there. I do think Dean and Durante's issues on beam are nerves and inexperience. When you haven't competed on beam routinely in years its going to take time. Ferrer is going to take over on bars pretty soon, she did a partial routine on bars in warm ups yesterday.
Alabama is a train wreck. They have talent, I don't think Duckworth will last, LSU should go after a couple of their star recruits when they fire her.

Do you think Ferrer will get to vault at Auburn?

It sounds like they plan on using the same vault lineup next week but there will be apparently a different lineup for Florida.
Ferrer needs reps in competition. I hope they at least use Ferrer on bars at Auburn
Don't understand why LSU doesn't utilize exhibition routines anymore

We are new Tiger Spotters this year and totally enjoyed everything last nite, but especially the Post Meet Event. It was great getting to know some of the other Spotters as well as getting to meet and get to know the young ladies we enjoy watching so much. The athletes were all extremely open and friendly to the Spotter members and answered every thing anyone asked.

I was surprised Ferrer wasn’t out there. Even for exhibition but I think I read that exhibitions are being limited more now that almost every single meet is airing/streaming live on ESPN in some form.
