He’s about 80 pounds away from being an OT and heirs Fran doesn’t look that large.

This is a good question.
Can we get an answer?

Some scuttle butt out there that Saban told him that is where he should play in college.

Hadn’t heard that but just from watching him he is a dominant D lineman when he wants to be. Could easily see him doing well there before standing out at TE

You could make that prediction about Taylor as well

I think he could be an all american OT, if he insists on TE, he will largely be a situational blocking TE imo

He's not putting on 45 lbs and playing OT and I don't think he wants to.

I do think he's the next Saban DE at 275 though.

Saban is going for the Westgate kid next season. He'll give Danny Lewis some ST and blowout reps to keep him happy as a freshman then he won't play much after that and transfers after the other Westgate stud is already on their campus.

Or Danny ends up a monster DE.

Those are my two predictions.

Let’s assume we don’t use the full allotment of 32 spots for this year. Can the extras be rolled over or “back counted” next year like the usual 25 can?

The NCAAs 25 initial counter rule was not changed and as of right now will remain in effect going forward.

The NCAA allowed a one-time waiver to allow schools to sign an additional 7 initial counters if certain criteria is present.

The one-time waiver expires on July 31, 2022. So if LSU does not use the five remaining spots by July 31st, same will disappear on August 1, 2022.

The first signed 25 initial counters (HS, JUCO and/or Transfer) constitute the signing class as applicable to the NCAAs 25 initial counter rule. The additional up to 7 initial counter spots are a use it or loss it proposition. There is no counting back those 7 spots.

Isn't the main reason so many are upset is that he is a Louisiana kid? Year after year, Saban cherry-picks some of our best athletes. So while there are other better TEs out there, it hurts that Saban took the best TE in Louisiana HS this year.

Who would beat out Darnell? Why wouldn't he start?
damn boy you're way behind the 8 ball on this. They have a star TE and possibly future first rounder.

Thought there was talk about Washington entering the portal, no?

Well if Eric Gilbert does return to the team (I think he is in school at UGA), they will have 3 5-star TE's. Bowers is the #1, Gilbert would be #2 and Washington 3. Does Washington sit on the bench, he already has been passed by Bowers. He comes to LSU he is TE #1. Now him being rated 3 on my depth chart does not mean he is not an elite player, he is. But that would be a crowded TE room. I think all 3 guys have NFL futures, but they are all close in classification and eligibility.

Would be a great get for LSU if Washington decides to hit the portal after spring ball
I saw his few highlights, Washington is a legit stud freak of a TE like the others UGA has. He would eat instantly at LSU in Denbrock and Kelly's system.

Brennan only played with Gilbert for 3 games, but in those 3 games Gilbert had 14 rec 177 yards and 2 TDs. Gilbert was a true freshman. Over a 12 game season that's 56 rec 708 yards and 8 TDs. Moss the year prior, his first ever season starting, had 47 rec 570 yards and 4 TDs. Dude could easily notch 50 receptions 600 yards and 5-6 TDs in a TE centric system. I mean I am low balling his numbers.

Really hope he leaves UGA. LSU is wide open for him to take and run away with it.

We're going to need 2 portal TEs now
Seems that way.
It occurs to me that we may only need one. A Foster Moreau type mostly for blocking that catches maybe 5 balls all year but at important times.
Bech can slide in or even Taylor and the tall kid to catch the ball if we line them up at TE for mismatches but seems like we need one mostly blocking TE to me.

Can't say I knew about his defensive side potential but I say you are nails about the scenario/PT to lure in the other kid from Westgate.

Washington is struggling at UGA I think, he's behind Bowers there, and was just struggling in the offense I believe. It's hard to believe because he was the top TE prospect coming out of HS, but Bowers is the guy there. But I think it was stupid as hell for Arik Gilbert to go there when he was tearing it up with Brennan in the games he played at LSU. Smh

Why the hell would you transfer to a school with 2 top TE's. Smh

I thought Lewis was a good player but I’m surprised that SEC schools offered him. He would have done better for himself had he stuck with Cincy imo.

Are they recycling their used Chargers now to the next tier recruits, or did he only get a Dodge Avenger?
