Putting the fact Bama may have swiped Ricks with money to the side, it's plain and simple that the cornerback room is flat out empty. There are no true CB commits, and Denver Harris won't solve the CB issue by himself. I'm just confused as to why Steeples and BK wouldn't ensure they have at LEAST 2-3 incoming commits at the position. I sure hope other corners will be available in the portal because LSU did a very poor job on the CB position recruiting this cycle. All things said, rest of the class is phenomenal, and excited to see the likes of Chester and Wommack potentially out on the field this year.

BK said that the secondary would be the main focus going forward.

He needs to go all out for the Wake CB from New Orleans

Well they do have 2-3 cb commits. Stamps and Hughes are CBs.Are they the caliber of ricks? maybe not but they definitely have 2 CB commits. Add in Denver who still has 3 years although we assume he wont be here that long that makes 3.

Gavin Holmes is already committed to Texas. That's what I'm trying to get at is lack of care for the position this cycle.

Although I hope to be proven wrong.

It's called the transfer portal, dude. You don't want 3* freshman having extensive playing time at corner.

Watched Stamps play in person, did not look like a true corner out there by any means yet- more like a safety. Either way, him and Hughes both will not be ready to compete in SEC ball at corner this Fall.

He actually said defensive line first and then said they aren't through with the secondary either. If Ricks is lost then you would assume that he goes after 2 corners in the portal.

I don't disagree. I'm with you they won't be ready to contribute right out the gate. But we also don't know same for ricks although i think we should have done everything we can to get him. There's not many stingleys, ringos, and even eli ricks out there like that. It'll be interesting to see what the staff does moving forward.

because you don't just fill positions with guys that you know will never play.

the new age of the portal dictates that you can get experienced players in there over frosh that may never get on the field.

There is a second portal wave still to happen. Just look at last year.

We won the west with SEVENTY scholarship turnovers. that is the most amazing combination of facts.

70 turned over scholarships.
1 west division champ.

rest easy. if miles or orgeron were in charge you'd be in a straight jacket. so would i . just trust the guy that beat alabama, auburn and florida in year one with a completely overhauled defensive backfield.

Hughes and Stamps are CBs, no? And I know people are saying Toviano may play safety, but he can play CB.

LSU signed the #6. #53, and #61 Cornerbacks according to the 247 rankings, and will likely get Harris as well.

Could those guys end up being safeties, sure? But if need dictates they be CBs, they will be and probably be good at it. They're high school kids so there is always uncertainty, particularly with physical development.
