we are not alright. agreed, the la. losses are minimal but oos recruiting is terrible. last 2 years so far, we got jenkins (katrina kid), alexander (la. native), avery (pp7 brother) and hunter. after that the rest are all average LSU quality. THIS IS POOR RECRUITING. i don't believe we have ONE 4 star that had no connection to LSU. not one in 2 years. no other way to slice but poor.
lm needs to get rid of ensminger and find 2 quality recruiters. we could have a top 5 2013 (with 2013 kids and jc kids) and no. 1 2014 but we need recruiters bad.

Diarse to Bama
If we lose the top player from the state to bama two years in a row, I'm going to lose my shite!

Not to mention we had Miller and Gunner until that went sour. We also have a shot at Howard and maybe Kwon, Brown or Edwards. We really didn't have to go out of state last year.

The OT Josh Thomas is a Texas lean but they have to offer first.
They already gave him a verbal offer.
Is he from Texas? Why is he a lean?
He is a huge OL and would be great at LSU.

Beckwith says LSU HC Les Miles talked to him about committing at JR day, but he plans to wait it out

I think the 4.81 he ran was laser timed. Hand time is probably 0.2 lower. Makes Smith's laser timed 4.71 at the same event all the more impressive!

The same reason that kids leave GA,TX and FL when their teams are at or near the top
Texas and Florida are huge states, with 200-300 or guys getting D1 scholarships, also both have large non native populations. I think you have a similar problem in Ga, not as big as Tx and Fl, but bigger than La. If they ever got a guy that could lock down the state UGA would be crazy good. Its not really a good comparison.

time to get used to it. It's a natural occurence and not a sign of the staff losing grip of the state
I hope you are right, but if we start losing the top guys in state to Bama, its time to get worried. Hoepfully Collins is a one time deal with the g/f, we'll see.
I think the only in state 5* Bama has not gotten since 2007 iw Winston, who will probably play MLB anyway.

imo Noel Ellis is going to be a great player. Sort of like a TM7 kinda build.

Agree those states are not an apt comparison but UF,FSU and Miami don't get every kid they want to stay instate. While there are a lot of transplants in FL, the great majority of the recruited football prospects are native Floridians. Texas with all it's success in recruiting still doesn't get every kid they want to stay in the state. UGA when great still lose a ton of offered kids instate. I grant you that with the sheer numbers of kids that it's hard to do but still when on top those schools could reasonably expected to get the kids they offer and never do aside from Texas who at times do get every kid they offer instate. This is also why I mentioned the Ohio angle. Imo OSU/Ohio is the most apt comparison to LSU/LA despite the fact that Ohio produces a good amount more D1 prospects. OSU is the dominant program in a major talent producing state that is expected to get every kid they offer instate. Their fans even react the same as LSU fans when they lose an Ohio kid. I do understand and lend credence to your stance on this discussion.
Beckwith was asked about commiting at JR day and will wait it out but there are other parts to the situation that would lead any Tiger fan to the conclusion that he'll be a Tiger eventually. Just give it time.
We do fine OOS. We just don't go after many kids OOS. We rely heavily on instate kids. We are very unique as a major football power. Not many schools could compete at the level we do relying on instate kids so heavily considering the populaion of LA.
