Reading the Advocate article on Faulk's potential hire, this was mentioned
quote:

Faulk, a high school coach at Carencro High in Lafayette, must be approved by the Southeastern Conference to assure he has no ties to current players or walk-ons, which could violate a new NCAA policy (Individual Associated With a Prospect). The IAWP rule prohibits programs from hiring high school coaches and others associated with a recruit for a two-year period before and after the recruit’s enrollment.

Does this mean we wouldn't be able to sign a Carencro kid for the next 2 years as well? I have no idea if there's even a kid from there on the radar, just curious

I believe that is only for on the field coaches. But I could be wrong.

Just the opposite. It's for admin, S&C, QC analysts, and including such titles as "Director of Player Personnel".

And being from the same town wouldn't necessarily DQ them. If he coached them, I can see it as a dis-qualifier easily. It's meant just for that, girlfiends, those "friends of the family" that seem to be around all 5*, and of course family members.

Believe the opposite is true. The 10 field assistants don't apply to that rule but analysts/support staff do. Keeps schools from employing a coach or family member for a year just to get a kid.

Hope no one blows up from his old school or any kid he's associated with in any way because we wouldn't be able to take them the next 2 years

Gotcha. That makes more sense. Easier to hire and fire some dude behind the scenes.

The question is are there any recruits within the next two years coming out of Carencro that LSU would want? If there are none it doesn't really matter.

ETA:

2019 247 top 30 in Louisiana LINK

2020 247 prospects in LA LINK

I understand it is still way early as of now there aren't any top rated prospects coming out of Carencro High.

That 247 sports 2020 is bogus. #1 dude has been caught falsifying offers.

I’m glad the rule exists but there should a judgment for a situation like this since it’s clear there’s no shenanigans going on.

Really? I wonder why? I heard he looked really awesome at our elite camp last summer. It seemed like everyone would be after him anyway.

Believe that is the DE in 19 Sonnier. Belazin is a beast that committed to TCU so that offer was legit and when he decommitted Oregon was the top dog so I'd assume that one was real. Believe even we've offered(not positive). Its possible hea done some imbellishing but it qouks weird for 2 kids in the state to do that.

Sport talk radio said he will be in a non recruiting role, whatever that means.

That doesn't matter. The rule was put into place to prevent schools from giving a job to a person with a relationship with a recruit for the purpose of landing that recruit.
