but Saban and Auburn always get them over Les
Given Saban runs a 3-4 defensive scheme, what makes you think that we can just impose our will on LB recruits from Alabama?

So basically whatever you deem they are, they are?
Everyone else including NFL scouts and college scouts believe some of these guys are marquee players.

rovon Reed wasn't a marquee prospect.
arguably the highest-rated Louisiana kid in 2009 and LSU wanted him, thus he was a marquee in-state loss

where is the argument here? We lost a guy it looks like to a school where he can get immediate playing time. I'd rather lose him than La'el Collins.

LSU didn't want him that badly. Not marquee. He wasn't even the best receiver in the state last year.. not even close.

Joe McKnight,
Earlier, you said that there were guys that we got who didn't live up to the hype.
Well this guy didn't either.

Based on your logic if the #1 player in it's own state isn't sought out by the home school, then he isn't a marquee recruit.
no, my point was it wasn't a difficult battle for Les because the kid was legacy and the in-state power didn't put up a battle

LSU wanted him sure but they never put the full court press on him. He would have been a fine replacement for Chris Mitchell however.

Janzen Jackson, Joe McKnight, etc.
Robinson and Reed.
So basically we lose marquee in-state players to schools and coaches that have been tied to recruiting and improper benefit scandals. I can live with that.

how exactly does this change a recruits ability? that would be the definition of a marquee player..
if it does not change a recruits ability -- then what the shite is your problem with miles OOS recruiting?

Just wanted to point out that we are on 9 pages, working on 10, so obviously it's an engaging topic. If you don't like then go away. Start a Les Miles apologist thread or something..

when we are taking the best players from across the southeast we are going to lose out on recruits. who gives a frick who's marquee and who's not.

I'd much rather our coaches find productive guys from anywhere such as Kelvin Sheppard
for every one Sheppard, there is 8 kids like JT Lott, Cordian Hagans, Ernest McCoy, Steven Singleton, etc.

Engaging? Or frustrating? Feel like I'm dealing with trolls here. Not a single person would be upset to see you banned fwiw.

Go through Bama and Auburn's recruiting classes and you'll come up with the same.

Obviously you have reading comprehension problems, this thread isn't about Saban anymore, and it hasn't gone 9 pages because you mentioned his name.

fair enough.
If we lost McKnight, Jackson and Reed and Robinson to $$$ from Carroll, Kiffin and Auburn then I can live with it too. If that was the case..maybe we know some day, maybe we don't
