Reason for Davis' decommitment to LSU

From "Burnt Orange Nation:"
There are several possible explanations for why Davis decided that he no longer wanted to become an LSU Tiger. Since he has been a silent commit for several weeks, it's not likely that the loss of recruiting coordinator Larry Porter to Memphis and the resignation last week of wide receivers coach DJ McCarthy, who is under investigation for making improper phone calls to a recruit, though Davis may have known of that investigation prior to his decision to re-open his recruitment. McCarthy's departure was not the only major change in the LSU program, as recruiting coordinator Larry Porter left for the Memphis head coaching position at the end of November.
The more likely reason is that Davis did not like the usage ($) of freshman Ruben Randle this season, saying that there was "something wrong" with his number of touches and felt that LSU was underutilizing all of their receivers, which, Davis said, "worries me a bit." In addition, the use of speedy freshman Russell Shepard fell short of expectations and the offense as a whole underperformed considerably, ranking near the bottom of the country in total offense.

the crowton experiment is going to eventually kill the program if he is kept on staff.

I agree with this. Any athlete that bases his committment on how another Freshman was used isn't very intelligent. The bottom line is that Randle will be #2, possibly #1 next year and should light it up.
I really think Davis had a good chance to play and play alot next year. I hope he enjoys sitting on the bench at Texas behind the other 15 receivers.
This is not a "he wasn't that good" post. I think the guy is a star in waiting.

Not everybody started for one full year of high school ball like you Bert Lyons. Don't look down on them because you got a letter jacket at Mamou High in '67.

Great. So let's hire Davis as HC.

Why don't you go back and look at how Dwayne Bowe, Craig Davis, Early Doucet, Brandon LaFell, Jospeh Addai, Jacob Hester, etc. were utilized their true freshmen seasons.
There are exceptions like a Michael Clayton but depth was really bad at that point.

Sounds like something Mack Brown may have pointed out. Can't say I disagree with him, but if we don't start utilizing our talent, this will become the norm and recruiting will take a hit.

Texas is more attractive for a TX senior than LSU is. It's his home school! Just like we love LSU, he loves Texas.
Coach signed extension, great program, maybe National Champs, etc etc etc
Compared to us...new coaches, real weak offense and still didn't play the # 1 athlete and the #1 reciever in the nation outf high school last year...blah blah blah. Other than us really wanting him, can you really think of a legit reason for him to leave TX?

Are you saying that if you haven't played football you can't comment on how dumb keeping a coach on staff is that has the 109th ranked offense out of 120 teams?
are you really that stupid?
