quote:based on below, he has the thumbs up from CR for that transition. Not definitive by any means, but gives a good insight into how the staff sees him.
He has great physical stats and hopefully makes the transition to CB

“Corey Raymond (LSU secondary coach) did an excellent job of recruiting Raydarious. We fought all day. We were on the phone fighting all day with a lot of recruits, and it was about finishing and about him having a great visit. But you’ve got to give Corey Raymond the credit. He did a tremendous job. Long tall cornerback, athletic ability. He was a quarterback on a state championship team. Can run. Has great ball skills. Physical. Is a competitor. He reminds us a lot of Greedy Williams (LSU All-American cornerback in 2018).”
I think two years from now we will be amazed at McCallum and Jones. They will be impact players, and are both very coachable with great instincts.

Bear in mind we recruited him to play a position that he has not played much or at all. His major experience is as a QB.
What exactly goes into the cornerback position in high school? What routes do you have to defend? Maybe two, slant and go route?
Hell, Scotlandville moved Kelvin Joseph from corner to safety because he wasn’t impacting the game at all as a corner due to lack of targets.
Him playing a different position in high school just doesn’t bother me at all. And to add, he played QB — the most pivotal position of all. And he played at a high level. On a state championship winning team. In Mississippi’s highest classification.

Damn that was well-worded.
Good points.

He could be another Greedy Williams IMO

That's a good point. Similarly, I watched Christian Harris be the biggest fastest guy on the field for Uhigh this year but never actually saw him hit anyone or really do anything except return kicks.

What are you saying? So he's never played defense, much less LB...big deal. He was a low 4-star ATH a year ago, and now he's the #6 rated ILB nationally and the only ILB in the top 10 that's never played LB before. And he's going to bama. I'm not seeing the issue here at all.

Pretty sure he's comparing the fact that Raydar is ranked lower because he's projected to play a position he didn't play in high school.
Yet Harris didn't play ILB in high school and is projected to play that at the next level. He's also some how ranked higher than his own teammate that did play ILB and signed with Clemson.
You can't rank Harris based off his potential and athleticism and then do the complete opposite with Raydar.

What happened with Christian Harris.
Did he want to leave Louisiana?
Did he just like Alabama they much?
Did Orgeron/Aranda just not like him well being for an offer?

We offered as an H-Back after he didn’t wanna work out in camp for Aranda at LBer

I've read that he refused to work out at LB for the LSU coaches. Seeing as how Aranda didn't have any film on him playing LB, because he's never done that before, Aranda opted to pass on him.
McCallum is his replacement, and I like McCallum, and Scottish people in general, more than Harris.
247 does say we offered, though.

Exactly. He wanted to be a corner but is built to be a LB, but is a little too big and not fast enough to be an elite corner in college. He only came to this realization af few months ago and we really had already moved on to better lber prospects. Problem is he never played lber and at corner really never hit anyone so Bama just got a linebacker with no tackling experience. I'd take McCallum every day over what we were presented.

I hope Tyrion Davis-Price flattens him like an inbred pancake.

Yet he’s going to Alabama as a LB right?

Would be some huge melts if he tears it up at Alabama at lb.

He will. We should have taken him

Did he work out at lb w Bama? If so, sounds like he didn’t want to go to LSU.
