Hey Dmitch, I understand where you are coming from...just remember that the passion in the south makes us all seem a bit nuts and irrational.
Losing top talent from our little home state is hard for fans to swallow...It just is a fact...Texas and California, and Florida and even the State of Georgia has many more players than does Louisiana...but Louisiana of course is well known for producing great talent, just fewer numbers.
The fans of LSU really want your brother Randle to be at LSU next year. We want him to want to be at LSU as well..We need a top WR pretty badly with Benton and Brown missing out on Grades
Fans say things about other universities all the time...My niece went to UM and my brother law is from Miami and loves UM and the Dolphins. We talk all the time...he gets sick of me talking about LSU these days....It wasn't that long ago that LSU was going to Toilet bowls and UM was winning NC championships..and I was sick of him talking all the time about how many NFL players UM had drafted blah blah....it is what makes CFB great..being a fan, and enjoying the glory days...because they don't last forever...

apex, i feel you. my main reason for posting that was not to defend miami but to get the point across that more goes into this decision than who you would be playing in front of. there never is any defending for miami, miami will always be thug U in most peoples eyes, so i dont even get into it. but i understand where you are coming from

Hey dmitch you're a good dude and i hope Rueben ends up where he wants. If it's LSU then great. Miami is on the rise again and he'd do great there. I can tell you he won't be disliked like McKnight is. He is because he called Larry Porter "fake" and shite like that. Ruebens a good kid with a good heart. I wish him the best.

Oh sure...I think we can appreciate that...
Just remember a fan is always thinking to himself "uh, what is the hold up it here with this kid?" "Isn't it obvious our university is the greatest place to play football and attend school " ?
My personal bias is, playing in the SEC is better than the ACC. But this is a fans perspective of what they think a player would want in their college career..

lol true words there apex, i actually agree with you on the sec thing. i am a college football fan and love watching sec games, when miami is not playing.
and i know i can be a little over protective of my brother sometimes because he is so quiet and wont say much. just dont want people thinking this is easy for him. as a fan of a certain school yes, it would be a no brainer. but keep in mind he did not follow college football until recently, so he does not see it like we do

very good point. but, most of these kids have only really been following CFB since they were in 9th grade (and started really playing ball).
That means most of them not only think Miami is a "down and out" school, but they also think LSU is a place that has always dominated... Glad we dont have to rewind to the 90s.
This doesnt apply to in state kids so much, but holds very true for a majority of out of state kids. and rueben is an out of state kid for miami.

do you think thats what he is basing his decision on, or are you nervous and all that is left to do is put other programs down instead of believing in your own?
There are lots of factors that go into picking where to go to school, most importantly the place that makes you the happiest, everything considered.
But as far as football is concerned, there really is no debate at the current time. Miami and LSU are not even on the same level right now. Miami's program is at an all-time low, LSU's is at an all-time high. LSU plays in the top conference in the country, plays in the conference that puts the most players into the NFL, plays in a conference that is on national telveision more than any other, plays in front of 90,000+ every weekend, etc. etc. etc.
Going to Miami, you're certianly going to get noticed in terms of getting to the NFL, but you likely won't compete for any championships in the next four years, won't play in front of any sold out stadiums, and may possibly even have to go through another coaching change while you're there (I believe there will be a coaching change in Miami within the next five years).
On the other hand, Miami is a hell of a town and a great school, and you're living in MIAMI!! Living in Miami for four years+ would be a great time all around and you would get a good education ... IF you have your head on straight.
But as far as football is concerned, there's no comparison between the two schools.
I hope we get your bro!

Miami is on the way down
I don't think so. They are on the rise, although they have a long way to go before they reach the upper echelon again.

Miami is on the rise again
If you are talking about the Miami Hurricanes, we must have been watching 2 different teams in the past 3 years. The Canes, like it or not, are in the gutter. Im all for this kid's brother coming in and keeping an eye out for him, but Im not gonna kiss anyones arse(on a message board atleast)to try and persuade anyone to come to LSU. If this kids decision is based on his older brothers issues/non issues with a fricking message board I would rather him go somewhere else. If that is the determining factor, which I highly doubt, should be left alone and let this great player make his own decision based on his gut instinct. If that is Miami, then so be it. If its LSU, then great, we would love to have him. But im not gonna say Miami is on the rise because someone said we are being stereotypical about that college program. This happens to be a message board. Opinions are what goes on these things. Its what makes message boards fun. But saying Miami is on the rise is a joke, and saying they are Thug U is also kinda of being stereotyped. Sure back in the 90's you could easily say that. IF anyone is Thug U right now it would have to be Georgia. The U has been pretty quite, or atleast I havent heard of any problems with their athletes lately, but to say they are on the rise is laughable, at best.

Clean shake that dude off. He's talking out of his arse. Shannon has consistantly recruited high character guys Ever since he got there. They'll shed the "thug u" name soon enough. Btw how good would LSU have been id we had Kyle Wright the past 3 years?
