It’s the deadline to enter the portal. It is not the deadline to commit/sign with a team.

There is only one portal window now. There is something about grad transfers but its also a small window.

Yep. It's also the deadline to withdraw from the portal and return to your original team. So if any 2025 Tigers hit the portal after Jan. 2nd, it's next week or bust if they intend to return to LSU.

Can you elaborate? If your in portal and can sign later, why can you resign later with your previous school?
