Shepard will most definately be a QB at LSU. Auburn can go ahead and stack 9 in the box, and when shep runs all over yall's arse, you won't be sayin shite. He has a good arm as well. We will see!!!

But that is besides the point. I am asking if you honestly think Shep will be a QB for LSU. When we he develop his passing game?
He's a Jr in high school, he's got years before he'll be asked to run the full offense at LSU. What you're also failing to recognize, is that a player w/ his absurd running ability doesn't have to be a 70% passer on the college level to be extremely effective moving the ball and putting up points, ESP w/ the other talent he'll have around him.

Unfair to call him a bad passer because of a few things.

A. His offense isn't setup very well for a passing QB, ie, they pass when they have to most of the time, and the defense knows it. Most of his throws are simply bombs. Next year should be different.

B. He just switched to the position 2 years ago, so of course right off the bat he won't look great.

He is VASTLY improving the mental aspect of being a QB this summer working with a great QB developer. He obviously has the physical tools to be a QB (good arm, accurate). There's a reaosn rivals switched him over from an ATHLETE to a QUARTERBACK. Oh yeah, did I mention he's the #2 overall FIVE STAR quarterback?

not when we stack 9 in the box cause he throws around a 40% rate.

Does AU have nine decent enough to put in the box?
Shep has another year in HS to work on his passing. From all the indicators I have read, friends I have talked to, this kid is a very polished passer right now. The school he plays for isn't going to throw the ball thirty times a game. Don't let it fool you. That's why he is ranked where he is, as a QB.

Here's an in-depth scouting report for you barner:

quote:

Evaluation
Shepard is a rare athlete who resembles University of Florida receiver Percy Harvin when lined up at quarterback--a scary thought. Shepard is lean, flexible and plays with a lot of wiggle. He might seem like just a great athlete playing quarterback at first, but he's the real deal as a complete player. Still, he makes most of his plays with his legs, either on called runs or on scrambles after the initial play unravels. Causes headaches for defenses because he can break down a defender in the open field as well as anyone. Stays low to the ground and doesn't take a lot of big hits. Has excellent vision and the lateral mobility to bounce runs outside after starting inside. Excels at locating cutback lanes. Takes little time to reach his top speed. Has the burst to get through holes quickly and to turn the corner. Accelerates out of cuts, changes directions quickly and shows fluid suddenness in space. Wins most footraces. Has a smooth, fluid release and a quick, compact delivery on his throws. Flashes the ability to place the ball anywhere on the field when on time. Shows some zip on underneath throws and can fit balls into some tight spots in the short range. Has good touch and timing on the deep ball. Throws on the run very well and has the arm strength to throw off balance and across his body. He's explosive in all areas: change-of-direction skills, elusiveness, speed and arm. Shepard is much further along as a passer than Terrelle Pryor was at this stage, and Shepard is more explosive. He's the type of player any college program would want to get his hands on the ball as often as possible becasue he is a gamebreaker. He will be given every opportunity to remain at quarterback, but also has the elite skills to play a number of spots which gives him possibly the biggest value of any prospect in this class.

Kodi Burns is no Vince Young and never will be. The question is will Shepard be the next Vince Young. He hasn't even started his senior year and his team will focus much nore on passing this year and most scouts say he passes better than Young did as a junior so I like Shep's chances.

Worst case scenario, Shep is is still gonna be a better QB than Burns. Burns will be a better RB though.

first off, Shep is a better runner than Kodi. Kodi is the better passer of the two. Two totally different style.

second, Auburn does have 9 good enough to stick in the box as our defense is consitently in the top 10 in the country year after year.

I just started with a simple question of what position does this kid project and everyone is telling me he is gonna be better than Vick and pass better than Peyton Manning because Jeff Blake is working with him. He is also kinda small too.

You asked something along the lines of what is he doing to get better at passing. I said working with Jeff Blake on the weekends. Where did Payton Manning come in?

Shep is the number one player in the country according ESPN's 150..

Can you AU fans just let us enjoy our 5 star QB recruit for a change? The kid has a great attitude...He is the complete opposite of RP...which was all world talent with character issues.

Well Shep is all world talent, much faster, more determined to do things right, so he will likely capitalize on his talent because he thinks like a winner!

He will be given the opportunity to play QB! No promises were made to him..He understands he will have to compete for the job.

He will play for LSU and the SEC will know the back of his jersey...I can promise you that!
