Saban played into this kid's stupidity, plain and simple. He basically pulled Parks' offer at the last second, knowing he'd take a grayshirt, so he could take an extra player in this class. Seems like that should be enough for the kid to see that his new HC doesn't give a frick about him, but apparently it isn't. I won't feel sorry for him when he gets cut next year after Bama signs some 5 star DE in next year's class.

bama isn't signing any 5 stars next year. They aren't in the mix for anyone in the top 50 players, if they are they are distant.

The kid has a 4.0, has a academic scholarship and plans on majoring in pre-med. I think he will be fine until Jan.

Fine. Parks isn't stupid. He's naive. Either way he was played.

If he goes to Bama he would have to pay his way during summer and fall and would go on schollie in the spring. Would not be able to practice until the spring. In other words between now and then Saban processes someone else.

You basically delay your football counting enrollment but you can still go to school. It's a convenient way for Saban to get him in later, he was likely going to redshirt anyway.

When it happens late in the game like that it's hard for the kid to get rerecruited. A lot of times he's stuck and has to accept greyshirt or like Elliot Porter did years ago, went to UK instead before resurfacing at LSU.

If he was so valued, why not blue-shirt him and let one of the other players that got offered a blue-shirt take the grey-shirt. A center and a kicker who also can't play this year got the blue-shirts, but at least they're on scholarship and can practice (i.e. be a part of the team).

What's a blue shirt?

was my understanding he did not know until NSD. If true, he would not have time to sign with another school on NSD and he may have had a knee jerk reaction to agree to greyshirt with Bama. But that may change once he and his family have had

He had several LOI at the podium from Florida and Auburn along with others. He may change his mind but as of now he seems content. He knew his offer was contingent on Bama missing in other prospects. Ruggs, Smith, Ray and even Mathis were all very close to going to other schools. Ruggs was set according to his own words going to FSU until I think Tuesday, Labryan Ray had not decided until Tuesday as well. Bama was very close to going 0 for 4 that day.

Under certain conditions you can give a new walkon a scholarship in the fall and he will count against the following year's numbers. The catch is that he can't be a recruited athlete.

Recruited Prospective Student-Athlete. Actions by staff members or athletics representatives that cause a prospective student-athlete to become a recruited prospective student-athlete at that institution are: (Revised: 1/10/90, 1/11/94 effective 8/1/94, 1/10/05 effective 8/01/05, 12/13/05)

(a) Providing the prospective student-athlete with an official visit;

(b) Having an arranged, in-person, off-campus encounter with the prospective student-athlete or the prospective
student-athlete’s parents, relatives or legal guardians;

(c) Initiating or arranging a telephone contact with the prospective student-athlete, the prospective studentathlete’s relatives or legal guardians on more than one occasion for the purpose of recruitment; or

(d) Issuing a National Letter of Intent or the institution’s written offer of athletically related financial aid to the prospective student-athlete. Issuing a written offer of athletically related financial aid to a prospective student-athlete to attend a summer session prior to full-time enrollment does not cause the prospective student-athlete to become recruited.

It's extremely unlikely that Parks isn't a recruited athlete and thus cannot be a blue shirt.

The REC will employ a family member and pay enough to more than cover his first year of college.

Plus, no car payments on Jarez and mom's chargers.

He's a cuck if he actually enrolls at Bama. With that said, no way he's actually paying his own way if he does.

Truth. REC will pick up the tab and then some.

Amazing to me how Bama can convince a kid like this to put himself on hold until they "potentially" make room for him.

If I ever start trouble you got a point I don't. Lighten up and don't be sensitive especially when nothing derogatory was said.

This dude is a straight up pussy. Saban used him like a cheap prostitute. The idiot had plenty of offers from major schools. I would have bolted immediately if I was treated that way. Instead he acts like an abused women, coming back for more despite everything.
