LSU is currently very thin at the QB position, which most LSU fans would know.

The emphasis on QB recruiting needs to increase over what was put in by the last coaching staff and I expect to see a difference going forward. While we were able to pull in great WRs, the QB recruiting and play was lacking. I believe O and staff will be looking to improve this position group with top 10 talent. This is one of the only ways LSU will be able to get where they want to go.

A top 10 QB needs to be in every class, period. Priority should be for a mobile QB that has the arm talent - whether they classify as PS or DT, is of no real concern.

For 2018, only 1 of the top 10 PS QBs remains uncommitted, and there are 0 of the top 10 DT QBs left uncommitted, per the latest 247 rankings. Over the past few weeks, we have been making a push at a couple guys (Bohanan and Foster).

Where do we stand with Rogers? Or Cameron Rising? I would feel confident about the depth and talent if we could get either one, as they seems to be the only Top 10 talent we might have a shot at for the 2018 class. Rogers would have the year to rehab and get back to strength before competing for PT.

Looking forward into 2019 class, only 3 of the top 10 PS and 7 of the top 10 DT QBs are uncommitted, per 247 rankings. So over a year away from that signing class and half of those QBs are committed... committed to a school not named LSU.

While commitments can come and go, I don't want to bank on trying to get a prospect late in the process. As the numbers are showing, there is little opportunity to get a commitment from a QB prospect with this level of talent, within a year of the signing class. As a position group, they seem more ready to commit early. We need to build relationships with the QBs early on.

I look forward to LSU bringing in top QBs in upcoming recruiting classes to go with every other position group. There is ample reasons a prospect should want to come to LSU and the new offensive philosophy should help. I sure hope the staff is as tired of the lack of QB production as I am. Its about time.

(For clarification, this isn't an Etling thing... this is a QB thing that has plagued LSU for years. I am more hopeful the new staff will emphasize the QB recruiting where I had given up hope with the last staff.)

I'm guessing Narcisse will get a redshirt so essentially he will be like a 2018 recruit. Brennan will be a soph., McMillan JR and Caleb Lewis SR. We need 1-2 more QBs, hopefully we get 2.

James Foster is looking like a commit. We need some of these QBs that arent extremely elite and arent flight risks if they dont start yr 1 or 2.

Anyways here is just a look back from the past few QB classes (top 10 composite):

2013

*go to #11 for obvious reasons....
*Anthony Jennings was #20
*Danny Etling was #27

2014

2015

2016

2017

*Narcisse ranked #19

just interesting to take a look back

I would be fine if we could get a package deal on either:

Rogers/Marshall
or
Corrall/Hall

I'm a firm believer that you NEED a QB in every class. The higher ranked the better obviously but even if you can't get a top 10, get someone. Not every top 10 works out, hell even some top 3's don't pan out. Gotta play the probably game and get one to campus every year.

Ironically Bama isn't really hitting on a high percentage with big time QBs.

2013 Cooper Bateman (#4) - transferred
2014 David Cornwell (#7) transferred
2015 Blake Barnett (#2) - transferred

I agree, but Hurts is a soph so he'll have to sit at least another year and I would bet Hurts stays his senior season as well unless he has a monster season next year.

Amazing how hit-n-miss QB recruiting is.

It's a big difference too when you find your guy and he's young. It worked out for them because they replaced them with a pretty decent guy that seems like he'll be another player. They're pretty much set for a few years barring injury. We haven't been able to do the same.

This. And not only do you have to sign a quarterback ever year, you have to make them compete for the job. Too often we've just anointed an heir apparent and coddled that guy. That's not how you make your quarterback room better.

Multiple people have said this, but i'll reiterate, QB recruiting is completely hit and miss and you simply have to play the percentages to find guys that can lead your program. Just look at the QBs who were drafted last year and where they ranked.

So who are the QBs still on our board?

Rogers, Foster, Bohanon...and who else?

Baldwin?

Haven't heard much news via Baldwin. If we whiff on all 3 (which isnt likely) then I'd assume he is next man up to get an offer. There might even be 1 or 2 other QBs we dont know about that are ahead of him. Thus why an offer hasnt even been made to baldwin yet.

I have no idea beyond those guys.

I just look at 247 QB rankings and noticed that Artur Sitkowsi flipped from Miami to Rutgers. He was Canada's top QB target this year. I doubt he would flip again, especially since Rutgers is his home state school, but maybe he could come back on our radar. I didn't read much about his flip, but just kind of scanning the article I found it seemed like things might not have been working out for him in Florida. I saw a headline where he had gotten benched earlier in the year. So, it's possible he flipped to Rutgers because Miami wasn't impressed with his development, in which case, maybe we are no longer interested either.

I didn't do a ton of research, but it seems like the recruiting rankings for DT QBs is a little more accurate than PS guys. And by accurate, I mean, rarely when scrolling through the past DT rankings was there anyone lower than around 12 who ever really did anything noteworthy. But for the pro style guys, there are guys that ended up being very good scattered throughout the top 50.
