Meet Matthew Baldwin. Pro Style QB
Ht. 6' 2.5" Wt. 195 Class of 2018
Lake Travis High School, Texas; 6A - Division 1 [State Champions 2016]
247 Profile
HUDL
Wins 2017 Texas - Division 1 - 7 On 7 Football Tournament
He's not highly rated because this will be his first year starting. However, he has received offers from Frank Wilson and Mike Bobo.
The kid is smart as a whip. He's currently committed to Colorado State, but both of his parents graduated from LSU and are huge LSU fans.
Good genes. His mom was all-state basketball, and he is the grandson of James "Red" McNew.
Kid deserves a hard look.

Who’s next in the Cavs’ seemingly endless pipeline of college quarterbacks? Central Texas, meet Matthew Baldwin, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound signal caller who became the eighth consecutive Cav quarterback to make a college commitment following his recent pledge to Colorado State. Baldwin impressed in limited time a year ago during the Cavs’ run to the Class 6A Division I title, throwing for 673 yards and 10 touchdowns on 76-percent passing. He also led Lake Travis to a state championship in 7-on-7 football last month, and Coach Hank Carter and his staff rave about Baldwin’s intangibles.

I agree. If he can light it up senior season or at camps, he'd be worth a look.

Do we maybe need to take two QB's in this class? Who is to say Mcmillin won't transfer after this year.
We would only have possibly two scholarship QB's in 2018

Did he camp at LSU this summer?

If he is the starting QB at Lake Travis he is a take. And you can take that to the bank.

If he has the type of senior season he is certainly capable of, I could see it

Looks like he'd be a good signee to come in and redshirt behind Brennan & Narcisse for a year, be the backup as a Rs Freshman/Soph then compete to start.

They seem to have no defense this year.
They barely ran the ball.
Converse Judson knew Lake Travis was passing just about every down, and Baldwin still had a huge night.

THE James "Red" McNew????
THE ONE and THE SAME.
Kinda thrilling, mind boggling, and consciousness expanding, isn't it?

In week 2 vs 6A Cibolo Steele, Baldwin completed 27 of 38 for 335 and three scores to lead Lake Travis’ attack.
