Info on these two is scattered all around, so please excuse me making a new thread to centralize it.

How real is the "package deal" label that has been put on Priest Willis and Tahaan Goodman? They don't live anywhere near each other, so how did this come to be? Most will say that package deals don't work out, but most package deals don't feature two great prospects. I honestly would love to see the coaches get these two, I don't see how having two friends line up at S and CB could hurt a defense.

Also, with USC starting to fill up, is there any news as to how LSU is looking to to them? Both are scheduled to visit when Bama comes to town, so I hope they hold out announcing until then.

USC will only take 1 of the 2 so that's good new for us...but package deals work out like 2% of the time.

Actually, packaged deals with two great prospects happens a lot.

But yea, they never work. I always roll my eyes when I see a recruit talking about packaged deals. Unless you hold a university hostage like Nkemdiche. I think that's hilarious.

I think we have a very legit shot at Willis. Gino seems to think we can get him if we want him.

The problem LSU is going to have is a numbers game real soon. If RJ and Robinson commit, that's what, 4-5 DBs in this class? With the potential Diarse could move to S. They probably wouldn't turn Willis away but I do think we'll cool on him if we land RJ/Robinson, IMO.

Goodman, IDK. I guess it all depends on how much higher Goodman/Willis are on LSU's board compared to the current prospects/commits. White is a stud but we still have a lot of question marks on the "athletes" we took in this class. We're not even sure if some can play DB.

I think we've filled our need at DB. I'd like to see LSU focus more on the dline. That's a bigger need currently. And with the big 3 and possibly Hootie next year...yea.

There's got to be a Mark Richt/IC meme for this.

I know that history is against them, but how often are these package players both in the top 50 (247) and playing positions that will line up right next to each other on the field? Seems like it's worth a shot.

The numbers are a worry, and Diarse has the size to play safety, but I still think we would make room. How good is RJ? I honestly know nothing about him.

Not gonna happen. Especially after landing a few more secondary players

Take both, with our lack of sfuture safety depth we could see willlis evolve into a safety with goodman. Willis is 6'2 185 already...

Willis is a safety. Chavis likes Safeties that cover. White and Robinson will be our corners IMO. Willis is in the Reid mold IMO.

Most package deals don't feature 2 top 5 players at there position. I think when looking at these " package deals". All you need to do is say would I recruit these players individually. The answer is yes on both these guys so if I am an LSU recruiter I work the fact that they want to play together hard. That is heavily in your favor

I agree with this. He has all the tools to be an elite one too.

I think he's a S as well but he could play corner if we wanted him to. He's got the hips, speed, quickness and cover ability. He'd just be a better S. Word is that he's closer to 200 now.

Willis is the epitome of a cover corner.

And a package deal died with Schwegman's...

Leave it to the rant to want a 6'2 kid that runs 4.42 and is ranked as a 5* cb on multiple sites to play safety
