He’s obviously not Donte Jackson fast. I don’t know a running back that is.

With that said- John ran a laser timed 4.42 40

That’s elite imo.

Yeah, but he isn't winning dozens of world championships like Usain Bolt....

Seriously, though, elite running back speed is not elite defensive back speed. For a running back over 200#, he has elite speed.

I dont consider myself old but I've been around long enough to not get caught up in the hype.....

He is a fast running back but he does not have "elite" top end speed. Nick Chubb pre injury had elite speed. Gurley has elite speed. Elite speed can compete on a track.

looks like an elite rb, regardless of speed

Eta: just let the guy come in and earn his own respect imo let him be him

Emery reminds me of D'Andre Swift from UGA. They have an identical running style.

I see this too.

They have a similar hard cut that launches them into the second level.

His 40 time is a statistic. Not hype.

Agree, that is plenty elite for a RB. If he’s running 4.42 now, with speed and strength training he may be running high 4.3 before he leaves.

I love how he really seems to hate going to the ground. He will be a one man drive extender for us.

Yes he does. He's got a long stride but you'll notice he rarely gets caught from behind.

I said the same thing a couple months ago. He's going to impress game one.

I’m seeing that same explosiveness as well. Emery thighs look like tree trunks though. His lower half looks stout.
