Perhaps reverse psychology is the best way to deal with certain recruits.

Some recruits feel they are in the "driver's seat" because other schools tell them so. These recruits are told to blindly lead on other schools who are recruiting them heavily. Rather than let the recruit have the upper hand, coaches of the trolled schools should just tell those recruits they no longer desire their services, are pulling their offers, and are moving in another direction. Wish that recruit well and hope he enjoys his chosen school. In this situation, the recruit no longer has the power to lead that school on anymore. You all know who I'm referring to. Rejection is very troublesome to teenagers. They don't like it and can't handle it.

Takes guts for coaches to make big decisions like this, but they're less likely to be disappointed on signing day. Just my opinion man.

Please do not apply for a recruiting position at LSU. Obviously you do not understand millennials.

So you think signing day is less arduous on a coach if he tells off a recruit he knows isn't coming here instead of just accepting he isn't coming here and not burning the bridge? Makes perfect sense

This is a fast track to have Zoomers quit on you and end up with a terrible recruiting class. They like to think they’re special.

Ah, now I get it. It makes more sense to waste time and resources on a recruit you know isn't coming to your school. Besides, you're not burning bridges. The recruit has already done that with his shenanigans. You're just being honest: "We know you're not coming here. We wish you well, but we have to move on." As Michael Corleone would say: "It's not personal, Sonny; it's strictly business."
