LSU's mascot refers to its Confederate heritage, drawing from the fame of two Louisiana brigades whose fierce fighting earned them the nickname "the Louisiana Tigers." Based on winning percentage, the University's athletics program is consistently one of the best in the nation.

My Blood Runs Orange, go to Wikipedia and type in "Louisiana Tigers" if you want to know how LSU got the Tigers nickname.

I don't care what the friggin wiki-tiki says, the fact that LSU calls its teams the Tigers is all the tradition and heritage I need. We've got friggin tigers here in Louisiana, the LSU Tigers. I don't care about whether we get some old war brigade, or any of that so-called "history." We are the LSU Tigers. That's really all the tradition or history I need to hear.

And Tennessee won't be under investigation. They will just continue to lost the majority of their games against Florida and Georgia. When Monte kicks, there won't be much left in Knoxville except some players who wish they were Tigers.

All of the animosity on here confuses me. Despite all of the rivalries, I still give props to other SEC teams when they are doing well. I just love to watch the South dominate against all other schools, regardless of whether it is LSU, Bama, or UT.

With the type of staff TN hired then we should expect this kind of class. Our staff knows that there will be extra scrutiny on them with all of CLK's antics, a losing record last year, and an unproven product on the field. A huge emphasis on good recruiters has merely paid off sooner than expected and its disappointing that so many go with the cheating angle.

There is a difference between lying to recruits and cheating in the recruiting process.

I personally feel that many recruits are being lied to. Especially in the case of oversigning classes. Bryce Brown said himself today that he didn't even consider the competition between Oku and himself. It's ashame that some of these guys are unknowingly mislead and will soon wish they had made a better choice.

I'm so glad you were interested in our team's history!! That's really cool, especially since the "Tigers" is a name that is equally rooted in rich history of the region around LSU. Oh wait....
