Does anybody think that "I am opening up my recruiting for 1 month" was a set up to keep the NCAA from thinking something smells rotten in Knoxville. They pulled one on Flordia, one on LSU and now one over on the NCAA.

Saying Kiffin isn't a very good coach might be an understatement. Look at what a "great" job he's done in the NFL with talented players like LSU's own Jamarcus Russell and McFadden of Arkansas!

Just because LSU missed out on a recruit doesn't mean the other team cheated. You guys are pathetic.

I agree, but this Kid Kiffin is making some serious noise and he is 0-0 all time as a HC..

This is not normal, period

All the big name coaches today earned their stripes...

I guess Brown didn't want to be working at Wal-Mart for the rest of his life after going to Oregon or working at Kentucky Fried Chicken for going to LSU.

I just love the fact that he hasn't been a head coach in college (or even a coordinator), neither has Monte, and Orgeron was a failure as a coach. Lane was a failure in the NFL and talked more than he coached. I have a friend who is a big Raiders fan and he couldn't wait for Al Davis to let Kiffin go. I think Kiffin will be gone in 3 years. Tennessee fans may be excited right now, but they will regret letting Fulmer go in a few years.

I think I explained it well in another thread VolFan...

quote:

I have never had a problem with UT, and LSU fans in general have no reason to dislike UT. The success of UT is generally good for LSU since you play Bama and UF. Yet somehow, the good fans of LSU have taken a serious dislike to UT, and it isn't because we are afraid of you. Some might say it's because your coach (and I use that term loosely) has engaged in ethically questionable recruiting tactics. But no, the real reason is that the UT fans have become pompous windbags that insist on telling us all about how their 5-7 team will in short order be dominating the SEC. You guys have become worse than the gumps. Is this really how you want to be perceived? As being more retarded than Bammers? Now go home, gumpbilly...

In all seriousness, I think it is an extreme minority of Vol fans that think we will be dominating the SEC soon.

Most Vol fans I know are like me, optimistic about the new staff, and expecting improvement to come about over the next few years. I certainly don't think we will be dominating the SEC next year. Every fan base has its homers.

The Tennessee Volunteer nickname began from a call for volunteer soldiers by the army during the War of 1812. A request of 3,500 soldiers was made, and over 25,000 Tennesseans answered the call. The Tennessee Volunteers participated in battles from the Gulf of Mexico to the Canadian Border. Under the command of fellow Tennessee native Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans, Tennessee Volunteers took part in the greatest victory of the war when they helped to defeat a wave of top British soldiers. A captain in the 2nd East Tennessee militia, Jacob Hartsell, was among the soldiers involved. He was so inspired as to write a poem entitled “The Brave Volunteer”. This is known as the earliest written reference to Tennesseans as “Volunteers”.
Two decades later, Tennesseans advanced their reputation as Volunteers when several hundred made an unsolicited journey to help the Davy Crockett and the Texans in their war for independence from Mexico. The Volunteer name was solidified during the Mexican-American War when a call for 2,800 soldiers brought out over 30,000 volunteers.

I'm so glad you were interested in our team's history!! That's really cool, especially since the "Tigers" is a name that is equally rooted in rich history of the region around LSU. Oh wait....

Just because you guys decided to cart around a caged tiger does not mean it relates to the history of the region.
