Just sharing an interesting transfer.

For the first time in a long, long time we can happily say we are stacked at QB for the forseeable future and do not need a grad transfer.
Brennan
Johnson
(Finley?)
Nussmeier
Howard

I agree but IMO he’s still better than QBs on our roster. Plus Finley won’t be here much longer either.

Just when everyone thought Bama was starting over at QB.....

I should have edited. Minus “the” QBs. I meant QBs on our roster.
I think Myles and Max are more than capable. Nuss isn’t ready and Finley shouldn’t see the field.
I think Tyler could give Myles and Max a run, but I agreed we don’t need him.

Yep. Definitely better than the walk-ons LSU has.

Why (...?) around Finley's name?
Posted on 2/12/21 at 2:35 pm to whitec477
Because he’s not sticking around. And he shouldn’t see the field again anyway.

He will land in the SEC or Big 10 somewhere.

Not gonna negatively single out a kid that's still on our roster; js.

I mean, Walk-ons serves beer, so Im going to have to disagree.

Max beat him out in his class and there are 2 blue chip guys coming in behind him. The opportunity for PT will be limited I think.
I also think he's a talented kid with the drive to be good so maybe he sticks around and competes, but if he doesn't, I wish him luck.

I don't understand the questioning of Finley.
Just out of HS.
No Spring practice.
Weak OL
No running game.
He has a lot of potential IMO. He is better than any QB recruit during Miles tenure.
Let him compete through spring practice.

Did you watch any Oregon games this year? Nah probably not, this guys trash. He was pulled several times throughout the year.

I think Finley may be the best QB we have behind a good OL, but he really needs his OL to hold up to be effective. We saw the difference in the South Carolina game where they never got up in his face then when he was running for his life against Auburn the difference there.
The kid has a ton of arm talent, by far most on the roster, but with his size and lack of mobility, you cant expect him to succeed in games where our OL cant hold up and the running game cant take any pressure off him, so that limits his effectiveness for now.
I'm honestly not sure if we will ever have an elite enough offensive line here for Finley to really succeed at a high level. YEs I know we won the Joe Moore award just 2 seasons back, but we all know Burrow was a huge reason for the avoidance of a LOT of extra sacks that could have happened. That was maybe the best OL we've had in a long time, but I still dont think even that OL may have been good enough for Finley to play at a high level consistently. Joe still had some games where he really had to run around and make some plays.

Before now I don’t think we’ve ever said this about the QB position

Freshmen typically aren’t elite with pocket awareness and their timing clocks. TJ’s problem excluding having zero mobility is that his awareness and decision making were horrid. I’m not saying he can’t improve, and the deeper the quarterback competition the better, but I also don’t think you can blame the entire oline when Max Johnson, behind the same guys, pulled out a dub in the swamp behind the same oline. I personally think TJ is behind max for the remainder of his time here, but you know what they say about opinions
