Oh and by the way I live in Lafayette and go to ULL. They're extremely thin on the OL so if he likes lafayette send his film here. He's likely to receive some intrigue.

First off, I admire you for helping the young man. Folks like you make me believe their is still good in the world haha

Pros:
Size and wingspan
Does a good job of chipping and moving to the second level
Keeps his head up, looking to help where needed
Plays with decent pad level

Cons:
Foot speed is a bit slow
Needs to work on extending his arms and pushing rushers backwards, not just bumping them with his body
Needs to keep his hips lower off the ball, especially in pass protection (tends to stand up too fast, but not all the time)
Needs to finish all blocks on running plays (does on most but sometimes gives up, think pancakes)

Overall, for first year at tackle, that film isnt terrible. Like many have said, get him into any and every camp his family can afford this summer. Check out the FCS schools in the area and smaller FBS ones first. Also, have him work on his foot work at home. Jump rope, 5 dot, and agility ladder drills can help a lot and that can be done in the driveway. Just tell him to keep working hard, keep his grades in order, and stay proactive about his desire to make it to the next level. Staying on college coaches and emailing them weekly to show your true interest can help him stand out, aside from his on field stature and performance.

ETA: I just read yall are from San Antonio haha Tell him to contact UTSA, Texas State, Sam Houston, Incarnate Word, UTEP, Lamar, McNeese, Southeastern Louisiana, SFA, and Central Arkansas. All those programs recruit the San Antonio area, but also, with his size and competition, and exposure through 6A Texas football, he should stand out to bigger programs if they go scout other players or opponents.

Use the internet/message boards to market/promote the kid

Enroll him in camps for assessment and coaching....not message boards. No offense to posters.

Positives:
1. Appears to have a college frame
2. A lot of upside as he looks very raw

Areas to improve:
1. Flexibility
2. Flexibility
3. Pad level
4. Twitch (ability to uncoil out of his stance with explosive power)
5. Fundamental footwork
6. Agility

You can send him to all the college camps you want, but there is one camp for Offensive Linemen that is the best in the country. It won't help him get recruited in that it will get him exposure, but no camp will help him improve on all the areas I just mentioned more than this one. It should be your number 1 priority this summer. Bottom line is that he can go to all the camps in the world but he has to put some skill on tape in games this year.

This. He's got some potential though with his wingspan and size, hes just got to keep moving his feet when he makes contact. No reason some of those kids shouldn't end up on the ground.

Also, take out the clip at 2:24, its a pass play and he just runs down feild to the linebacker. Teach him a few things and he will be a college player for sure

Put out an APB and get in contact with Wildman. He can give you advice on getting a lineman exposure.

I think he may have some good qualities to build on. He seems to have good foot work and is fairly quick. The one aspect he needs to focus on is drive/strength. He seems to let up upon engagement and be satisfied with shielding his opponent versus driving him during run plays.

He's big enough that finesse blocking is secondary to road grading. Finesse is good, but if you out class your opponent, then put him into the ground.

All in all, I think he could definitely have a bright future. The fairest assessment would be getting him to camps and have them put him through the paces to gauge his true abilities/potential.

this.

BUT, he may not have the proper coaching to get him out of his shell.

Thanks for the link. He is a good looking prospect.

As others have said, he has a very impressive frame, and I really like his burst and agility.

He does need to work on his leverage, hand placement and strength. At his size he should be throwing kids around and mostly he doesn't do that. It's hard to say if that is because so his strength, meanness, or leverage, but that should be easier to teach than his athleticism at his size.

Will def play college somewhere. Hope he gets to some camps this summer.

Best of luck

He is very raw. He has size and will play probably on the FCS level. I can tell he hasn't had any quality position coaching, but I'm sure that's not his fault.

what the heck does this guy know about OL?

Question is how much could he improve with coaching? Hard to tell without know work ethic or speed to pick up technique, but still fun to speculate.

Seems to me like he raised a damn good1 that will be attending LSU this fall. On top of his OL skills the young man is passionate, mature and shows great leadership abilities.

Guys thanks for all of the suggestions. It was awesome to see so many of you take the time to critique this young man. In addition, I loved some of the negatives followed up by suggestions for improvement. It is times like this is when I love this board!

Thanks TD Fam!
