Definite OG or C. Welcome Malone.

Karl will be jealous when K.J. has a ring and he doesn't

100% agree that Hawkins is the future at LT but we'll need someone to play RT and it seems Vadal is that guy. It's very rare for guys to start at OT and move back inside unless out of necessity. If the staff has him at OT as a true freshman and running 2nd team then I think he's there to stay. Who knows though. Depends on how fast Hawkins is ready to play and how long Collins stays in school. I do agree about the feet though and though Vadal's a pretty good athlete, I just had him pegged as a Guard all the way.

Why would he hate lsu? Why would he let his son attend a school he hates?
It's not like La Tech and LSU are rivals.

But but but thought he was a Bama lock

Who knows with Karl Malone Sr. He is a very well known a-hole and it's anybody's guess why he would dislike LSU but I agree that if he really had disdain for LSU he wouldn't have gotten involved in the courtship of our staff with KJ. Brought him for a visit during a school day and spent all day with the staff in Feb and KJ wanted to go to LSU. He is part of the LSU family now and someone with Karl Sr.s stature and celebrity can only be a positive for the program during his involvement with LSU. He's not a limelight guy so I doubt he makes fuss like Hebert did but you never know when egos like his is involved. I'll welcome Karl Sr as long as he continues to stay out of the media's eye as much as possible during KJ's career.

LSU nailed down a big name recruit when Cedar Creek offensive lineman K.J. Malone, the son of NBA Hall of Famer Karl Malone, committed after LSU's spring game, several internet sites reported. Malone (6-4, 285) became the Tigers ninth commitment
Welcome aboard K.J. I'll have to go watch a game when I visit my parents in Ruston.

Les really is locking down the state.

Jealous you get to visit Ruston regularly. I've got a grandmother by marriage that lives just outside Ruston and I used to go every year to visit when I was younger. Always enjoyed partying with those Tech girls. Underrated talent on that campus from my perspective if it's like it was about 9-10 years ago.

Welcome big man! Wish you the best of careers as a Tiger!

I don't know where some of you people are getting your information from, but you couldn't be more wrong about Karl Sr. I spent over an hour talking to him personally in the tunnel at the spring game today. He's a very nice guy, and he never said a bad word about LSU or the program. As a matter of fact, he even said he didn't understand why a certain other well known recruit who shall remain nameless recently chose Bama over the Tigers. The man allowed his son to make the choice, but guided him along the way...as a good father should!

Shea has what looks like a Free article up on TSD.
Lots of quotes from his HS coach about the visit.
It wasn't just les:

Lots of quotes from his HS coach about the visit.
quote:
"It was a great day for K.J. and his family and Cedar Creek," said Cedar Creek head coach Ben Haddox. "The visit really blew everyone away. It made K.J. feel at home, so that's why he went ahead and told Coach Miles he wanted to commit."
quote:
"They definitely didn't come down here thinking about making a commitment," Haddox said. "I think the staff and players just blew them away.
It wasn't just les:
quote:
"They did a great job showing us around and being gracious," Haddox said.
"Chris Davenport was really there for K.J. after the game when K.J. was thinking about committing. Chris was a tremendous resource. K.J. also got to talk to (Derek Edinburgh and Jerald Hawkins), so he got the feel for what it was like to be in their shoes. "Coming from a small school, we don't get to do this all time. So it was great."

Yea, the guy owns a lot of businesses in North Louisiana that wouldn't be successful if he was the jerk some think he is. If he ever did have a problem with LSU, he's been a civilian (out of basketball) for around eight years. That's given him time to change his mind about whatever may have been a problem when he was in high school or at Tech.
I've dealt with him on a professional level and know him to be cautious but certainly not unfriendly in any way. He took his logging trucks to the Gulf Coast after Katrina and ran a chain saw himself.
I say if he's willing to let his son come play for LSU, we should be willing to except him as a former LaTech great, an NBA Hall of Fame member and most of all, an LSU Football player's parent.
Get off Karl's butt and welcome the whole Malone family to LSU.

Anyone that has followed Karl Malone's career know that he's been described many, many times as an a-hole by those in the know in the NBA. That has no bearing on his personal life of course but from experience, assholes are assholes and they don't really change, they cover.
Him being an arse has no bearing on his moral quality and ability to be giving and a man of charity. They're separate things entirely. Most of the world's biggest assholes are very well known to be very charitable.
Also owning businesses is not a proving point that he isn't an a-hole. Most successful businessmen and women are not exactly the nicest people in the world. Their success is often times a result of their attitudes.
I also posted that I would happily welcome him into the LSU family. He's a part of it now and should be welcomed.
That said he was against KJ commiting today. He wanted him to take more visits before commiting anywhere. Has no bearing on his welcome into the family but it isn't like he was pushing KJ to LSU.
