Jared Verse was a real bust going from Albany to FSU, right? And that was from FCS. Miles Frazier was no star at LSU, but he was a 3 year OL starter who came from FIU (one of the lowest programs in the FBS) and ended up a top-ranked OL in the portal before 22.
OL and DT are two of the hardest positions to project because of the physicality and technique involved and the fact that most high school players aren’t getting high-level instruction before going to college. Some guys go to schools at lower levels and end up continuing to develop physically while grasping the mental side of the game. Others with lofty projections don’t pan out. It happens all the time.

And the other 49ers receiver opposite Rice was John Taylor. He was a Pro Bowl and All pro receiver who was voted on the 1980s all decade team, and he graduated from Delaware State.
