Maybe check out TexAgs. They're more devoted to these chats than anyone on here sadly (because they apparently enjoy laughing at LSU's confidence in signing top Louisiana players).

is that June 4th transcript or June 11?

Texags spin on Chark choosing LSU over atm

quote:

Perfect move by Sumlin!

quote:

Chark was his backup plan incase LSU looses on any of the top-end receivers. By offering Chark yesterday, Sumlin took a calculated risk. Sumlin knew Chark was visiting LSU today and he was planning to announce his commitment within this week. It would be either LSU or A&M. By officially offering him yesterday, Sumlin sent a signal and Miles could not prolong his game of non-commitable offer longer. Either Miles takes his commitment today or Chark lands up with us. It was a calculated risk and kinda win-win situation for us. Either we get a decent receiver in Chark or we have a better chance for one of the top end receivers (with LSU locking one WR spot with Chark)

quote:

Goodness, recruiting is like chess.

Can u link the June 11 trancript?

those quotes look like june 4th to me

LSU offered 2014 Alexandria WR D.J. Chark yesterday. Does that indicate the coaches are not confident about signing D’Haquille Williams, Blacknall, Quinn, Noil, and Dupre?

I think that offer was more of a we want to see you again type of thing...

so smith said this today?

Update us on what u think will happen to Jermey Hill please.

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
It is only speculation on my part and Jim Kleinpeter or Randy Rosetta , but here it goes... I think the situation will be handled after the season allowing Hill to play this year. I also believe that it would be his last year in a LSU uniform.

Hi Duckie,
How good is the new wide reciever commitment?
Who gets left out ? how many receivers do we take?
thx,Boris

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
Hey Boris,
I just finished watching his film again and I see the same thing every time; a fluid athlete with a long wiry frame, good lateral quickness and the ability to create separation.
When I was looking at him at the LSU camp, it is quite apparent that he needs to work in the weight room. It was also apparent to me that he has the fluidity and frame to play cornerback. I just have this feeling that he will work at CB this summer at the next LSU camp and defensive back coach Corey Raymond will see enough in him that he may start pushing for his services.

I don't think this exactly excludes anyone they were recruiting.

quote:

lsu 2011 sec champs mnc fact
it seems like we are being slow played by the instate recruits!
Why ?

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
These are top flight prospects that have been recruited by many programs for longer than normal. Add in the woes that LSU has had on the offensive side of the ball and it makes for this sort of situation. If they show improvements on offense, it should go a long way in helping finish this class strong.

quote:

lsu 2011 sec champs mnc fact
is Quinn leaning to ok st?

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
I was told by someone entrenched in the Quinn camp that if they were 100% sure that LSU would throw the ball more, it would be a no-brainer. Pretty telling IMO. And this was only a few weeks ago...

quote:

lsu 2011 sec champs mnc fact
We are now out of the top ten in recruiting.Waht is going on?After a good start we seem to habe plateaued

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
There just hasn't been a steady flow of commitments, but those rankings will drastically change in the future. The Tigers are in on a boatload of top-notch prospects and just a commitment from one or two and they are back in the top 5.

quote:

JayMing
How would you compare Speedy's skill set to DJ Clark? And did we take him as an athlete?

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
I am hearing that he is a take as an athlete right now. They will likely make the final determination following camp next month.

As far as comparing the two, there really isn't many similarities other than they are both good athletes and are versatile enough to play multiple positions. Speedy is super dynamic and there just aren't many players like him. He is also put together better at this stage of his physical development. Chark is fluid and moves very well, but they are two totally different players.

quote:

Purpleandgold1
I believe you said Clark is around 6'0 or 6'1" and 170 pounds which agrees with the other recruiting services but obviously not your embedded video that some organization made that had him 5'9" and 140 lbs. Is 6'1" `70 about right and his speed I've seen listed literally between 4.4 and 4.55 in the 40. Know what his legit speed is?

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
He measured in at LSU at 6-1.5 and 176 pounds. He is a legit 4.5 guy that could get faster as he develops his lower body strength.

quote:

tigas1
What do you think of Chark who just commited to LSU? Why does he have no big offers? The coaches no more than me but the guy is only 2 stars. Did he commit as an athlete not neccesarily a wide receiver?

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
He was just one of those guys that flew under the radar. He has seen his stock rise throughout the late spring and started the summer off with a bang. Okie State, Tex A&M and LSU all offered within weeks. If LSU doesn't take him, he commits to Texas A&M on Friday and that is fact.

quote:

Purpleandgold1
My guess is LSU takes only 3 OL and 3 DL to make up for bumper crop of WR and secondary signings AND maybe more LBers than expected and 1 extra TE (2 total). You think LSU comes up "short" on linemen on purpose for this class?

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
I think they take 4-5 defensive linemen, but the three on the offensive line may be dead on. I am almost finished with my defensive line prediction feature in which I elaborate further on the issue. Will be ready later today.

quote:

Purpleandgold1
How do you think the LBer recruiting ends for LSU? Garrett and Young verbals or just one of them?

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
I still feel like Young is going to end up elsewhere. I am alos hearing that Ole Miss is one to watch for with Garrett.

quote:

northerntiger
Do you have any readings as far as the OL recruiting is going?

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
The offensive line recruiting is live or die with Cam Robinson right now.

quote:

Purpleandgold1
BTW, a comment on the "rankings" of LSU. One service just jumped Baylor 8 spots to 2 spots ahead of LSU. Oh, one little caveat...they have fewer higher ranked players than LSU but they have 19 commits instead of 10. IF people want to stargaze {which I do myself sometimes}, might want to keep an eye on "average rating per recruit", NOT total ratings. Volume skews the outcome this early in the class since LSU doesn't have 15 commits like Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky (#5 BTW and Stoops seems to be doing a good job), and Ole Miss or 19 like Baylor. Just saying.

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
It doesn't take much to move up or down in those rankings. LSU will be way up there when this cycle wraps up.

quote:

BillyBobBlitzkrieg
You say that you believe Kenny Young ends up elsewhere, is that due to LSU cooling on him, or him wanting to fly the coop?

quote:

James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
I am looking at a combination of factors here. His feelings for UCLA and the number crunch in this class are the main reasons.
